Now you have learnt the rudiments of driving, you can start learning to drive properly. Cutting people up, road rage, speeding, parking on corners and yellow lines....the list is endless...enjoy!

Seriously though, well done at passing your test, I would leave your green P on just to let other drivers be aware of your inexperience. Try short journeys first and then go further and further as you begin to feel comfortable. Good luck.

Wear your green p plates, it might just stop someone attempting to knife you if you make a mistake.

Stay away from BMW drivers cause they are idiots.

Women, whilst safe and slow, are a hazzard and should be avoided.

Boy racers will annoy the hell out of you

Take it slow and remember your training, you'll do fine. Remember, if you make a wrong turn, keep going and pull a u turn when its safe, don't just slam your brakes on and freeze. Always check your blind spot and watch out for bloody cyclists and motorbikers who are even worse than BMW drivers.

P plates are a good idea, wear them until you gain the confidence to feel yourself able to remove them.
Any sensible driver will appreciate that you are 'flying solo' for the first time and make some allowances for 'dithering' or small mistakes. Don't abuse them and drive like a complete beginer though.
You will always encounter some toss-pot who disregards the P plate, don't let them bully you. Just make sure that you don't become one of them.

Beware of people who confuse "assertive driving" with "agressive driving". Guess which one a lot of new drivers become - especially if their mates are in the car with them.

Stay off motorways until you are REALLY confident. Too many new drivers dither their way along the sliproads and make other motorists impatient (and so dangerous).

New drivers also tend to stick in the centre lane because they're nervous about passing lorries. This is also dangerous (Centre Lane Only Drivers are actually far more hazardous than most people think).
Take an experienced driver with you until you're happy and safe to use the motorway on your own.

Look up the Institute of Advanced Motorists. They provide improver courses and will help you become a very good and safe driver. This will also save you a lot of insurance premium.

PROS: some people are more sympathetic when you make a mistake.

CONS: People will cut you up like your red L plates.

I had P plates on and personally wouldnt reccomend them as you get an easier ride as people dont cut in front of you as much. Just stick to what you have been taight and dont stray too far from the test standard and you will be fine.

please buy the green p- plates, they are a good idea, when i passed my test quite a few years ago now, they weren't available and i had to drive like someone who had, been for years.

there is also a passed plus driving course, which help you because it will cover things that you could not cover while learning.

i will suggest you try to do an advanced driving course at later date.

Well the first i would do is put some green P-plates, it lets drivers know you have'nt been driving long.

then i would drive at the correct speed limit do not let people behind you push you along the road.

take your time when pulling out of junctions, leaving plenty of a gap between pulling out until you get confident and your judgement is there.

keep your distance from cars in front there are too many stupid people on the road.

Good luck, I remember my first time.

The key is confident

Green plate should be law. Now you have passed your test now you learn to drive!! interpretation is the key word in driving. Experience can only teach you this, reading the road and other drivers. If you know any good time served drivers sit in the passenger seat and let them do a running commentary, i wish i could do this with you it's a valuable lesson!! (take care)

the best advice i have, is that while yes also using your mirrors, do the glance over the shoulder, to check your blind spots, i have been driving safely for over 35 years, and still by looking over my shoulder, to double check, avoid cars that are not visible in the mirror ,,, it seems no matter how well you adjust all 3 mirrors, there is still a blind spot there, dont know what the plate thing is, sorry
ps: dont speed, no matter what the cars around you are doing, and later when your older, and maybe speed a little, dont do it on a deserted road, with little traffic, while it might seem very safe, you can be singled out and pulled over easy,

just remember you are only now adjudged to be safe to drive you are not a driver it takes years to be a driver as so many people found out when they crash so be safe don't speed and maybe you will some day become a driver
be safe and enjoy

give other drivers the respect you would like them to give to you.
Personally I would give you distance if I saw your green P plates, not everybody knows what they mean or choose to ignore.

Don't be in a mad rush to get into heavy traffic until you are comfortable in your car, especially if you are driving a standard shift and "haven't quite got the hang of it yet". Practice, practice, practice on quiet streets with intersections, corners, parallel parking and the like. Do not tailgate, because you really have to stay awake.

i never used p plates but someone told me to do my best to be nice to other drivers for example let them out at junctions move so they can pass you,ect ect it make your driving less stressful and it does because you see them all the time trying to cut you off.i just wish all drivers were that nice.i would note p plates and give you a break.

Most people that pass a test believe that they suddenly become super drivers. This is so far from the truth. The best advice is to always and that means forever, drive as though you are taking a test. After all this is the correct and best way to drive a car. Do not show off when you have friends in the car and speed around bends and corners. Always concentrate on what you are doing and be aware of what other road users are doing. Read the Police Driving Manual and try to follow that advice.
Enjoy your life as a driver and do not work towards your own death as a driver.

Yes use your the green p plates and just take things steady ,you will soon get the confidence .

first off don't crash & ditch the green plates a lot treat you like a learner still.

Congratulations on your new driver's license! Just be a good citizen, a courteous driver, and only drive within your limits, until you gain more experience. Don't forget to fasten your
safety belt, too! Finally, don't forget to use your turn indicator and other signals to let your fellow drivers know what your intentions are!
