Lights For The Top of my Vehicle?

I deliver newspapers every morning, and I am looking for a place where I can buy a light that goes on TOP of my car. I think they plug into the cigarette lighter? Obviously not an illegal color like blue/red...I'm thinking yellow.
Any help would be appreciated.
Looking for a store that actually has retail stores, so I can go buy one tonight.

Why would it be illegal? I see mail carriers/other newspaper deliverers using them on their own cars here in Michigan. Since we have to stop and start, sometimes even on the other side of the road.

Research Senate Bill 265 that was passed in 2007. It states in part, "...It would also permit vehicles used to perform public utility service, trash collection, highway repair and maintenance, or snow removal; vehicles used by peace officers, rural letter carriers, or newspaper delivery people; and implements of husbandry, certain military vehicles, and vehicles escorting or transporting an oversized load--to display white, as well as amber, flashing, rotating or oscillating lights..."
Check with your local PD to make sure there is no paperwork you must carry with you when using the amber light, but it is not illegal to use amber. Most auto parts stores, some WalMarts & even truck stops will or should sell amber lights. |

The other person who says it is illegal is right. The reason why it is illegal is because you are not driving a vehicle that is licensed to have that type of equipment. Also you must get special permission because you are not an official of that particular county. Vehicles that have lights on the top are licensed and have received permission from that state. They are officials performing a special type of service that warrants the use of those lights. Also, why would you need lights on the top of your car if you are delivering news papers? Lights are used for the express purpose of letting pedestrians and other drivers know that you are in the area, and you are doing a specific type of work. If you want to get the lights you need permission and clearance otherwise it is illegal. |

Any auto parts store will have what you want but as stated above the yellow lights will be illegal as well.
Try looking into a spot light instead with a white light........
They are only legal for city, state and federal workers...
