i look rite for some strange reason

I always look to the lane that I am about to cross first, depending on whether or not it is a one way street or four lane road. So usually to the left (America).

The way I was taught as a child was to look left, right and left again. The point is, no matter which way you are looking you should always look and double check both ways before crossing. Now since I have grown from a child, I now look in the direction of the traffic. I basically look in the way where the traffic is coming. If you look right, that is up to you, but I would advise you to look both ways especially in the way traffic is coming.
