Locking your child in the car when they are sick?
|
For the last few weeks my daughter has been ill, and i wanted to stop by the liquor store tonight to grab a 6 pack for the week for after work. i carry two spare keys with me, and becaue it's pouring rain here, and she was half asleep ileft the car running and the doors were locked and i wasn't even there 3 min. when i came out i had falling down drunk guy screaming at me taht she could have been kidnaped, but i locked the doors plus icould see the car at all times. i'm trying to justify it??

i never had my lil girls out of the house when they were sick --but by what you are saying he is just trying to start something --but i believe lil sickos need to be at home and not toted around --humidity changes can make em stay sick longer!! |

You never never ever leave your child in the car when your not there even if you can see her through the window they (the police will charge you with neglect) besides car thieves can break into the car and off they go in a matter of seconds say when your looking in the refrigerated window to find your brand of beer it does'nt take long to steal a car so please do not do that any more take the kid with or wait until your alone and somebody is babysitting before you go out and shop good luck to you !! |

Your car was locked, but running. That 3 minutes is almost 3 minutes more than enough time for someone to smash the driver window, open the door, jump in, and be blocks away, with your car and your daughter. I could be gone with your car in 5 seconds, easy, nothing you could do about it standing inside the boozeteria, even if you saw me. Find a drive-through vendor next time, there must be one somewhere in your area. |

I think you know it was wrong, and you shouldnt have bothered with that 6 pack. I would stand guard beside any vehicle I saw a child shut in, just till the police got there, to get the kid out! |

Personally, I would never leave a small child alone in a car even if they were sleeping or were ill. While I understand that you only meant to be a couple of minutes that is in fact all it would take IF someone decided to pull something.
Don't get me wrong, I am not judging you. In retrospect, I think I would suggest considering other options where you both could have gotten what you wanted. You daughter, some sleep, and for yourself your item(s) for after work. I would have made the effort to look for a drive-thru to pick up what I needed. Surely there is one of those nearby? If not, maybe I would have had a friend pick me up something?
Just some ideas.
I hope your daughter is feeling better soon.
God Bless. |

There are bad situations and then there is just times when you need to run in on an errand. Don't beat yourself up- believe me! The people who would leave their kids locked in a house or a car while they go out to drink a 6 pack wouldn't be asking if they did something wrong.
When I had my daughter, I had a friend tell me immediately "You are guilty." I asked her what I was guilty for and she said "For the rest of your life, you are a mother and it doesn't matter what you do- you will always feel and be guilty."
Just be careful and you will be a good mom. :-) |

For many states its illegal for a child under the age of 12 to be left in a motor vehicle unattended. If turned in, you'll be having to deal with Child Protective services and face court and fine costs.Plus haven't you heard of car thieves who have gotten into a locked car left with it motor running and having a child in the back seat? And yup it only took them less then a minute to pop the lock.
It be better just to get a baby sitter and go to the liquor store and do the other errands you have to do then take your ill child out and maybe put yourself and your child at risk.
I hope that drunk guy scared the bjebus out of you so you NEVER do it again. |

what are you physco?? what were you think you never leave your kids in the car even if they are sick...you could've gone without beer or liquor and i hope you get caught doing this because that is just pathetic and dumb...that drunk guy should've called the cops on you..and he was right she could've gotten kidnapped and you need to think of your child first and not your own wants!! thats just wrong and i am sorry but your an idiot!! next time find a freakin sitter..how long would it of taken to find someone to watch her for what 10 minutes?? start thinking... |

well its not the best thing to do and its actually against the law to leave your keys in the car but i think i would do the same if my kid was half asleep and i could see the car from the store i dont think its that big of a problem unless its in a bad neighborhood then i would do different but 3 min not a problem. |
