At the OC fair I got a MIP... I was holding a beer for a friend of mine wile she was in the bathroom. My boyfriend started walking away and I was yelling his name when a cop came up to me and asked me how old I was. I got scared, lied and said I was 22. I didn’t think they could give me a ticket because they were fair cops, so I lied for my friend and said it was mine. When they found out I was 18 they gave me a MIP and a misdemeanor for lying.
One month later (which was two nights ago) I went to a wine tasting art show in Laguna Beach. I drove home after and was pulled over, I blew 0.08 and I got a DUI.
Are the consequences going to be worse because I have both on my record?
Are they going to take my license away until I am 21?

They will take your license for a DUI no matter what your age. The length of loss of license depends on your state. As for the MIP, you're in possession if you have it on you. It doesn't matter whose it is. YOU were holding it when the officer approached. If you get a good attorney you can get your DUI reduced to a misdemeanor first offense, probation and counselling. Do what you are instructed by the courts until you are cleared and you should be able to get your license back within a year, depending on what punishment you face. You should be more worried about your future job prospects and the ability to get into any good schools because of your new criminal record. Your driver's license is the least of your worries. |

1st get a lawyer. In some states if u are a 1st time offender you can ask the court (thru your lawyer) that if you complete the terms of your sentence and keep your nose clean for a year the DUI will be expunged from your record. Make sure the lawyer requests that be written in the agreement. |

Since you are 18 years of age you will loose you license, you will be fined and depending on what the laws are in your state you are facing possible jail time, as for driving, maybe around 21 years of age so your best bet would be to hire a lawyer so that he or she can get this off you record now so that your future is not all messed up..... |
