Motorway middle lane hoggers?

don't they just annoy you.how do you deal with them?

They annoy the hell out of me too! I just overtake them and then lead by example by pulling in when I have finished overtaking. (Whilst mentally blasting them out of the way and into oblivion with my enormous mega blaster). It usually has no effect because the middle lane cruiser believes themselves to be the only person on the roads! I feel the same way about shamblers in towns, standing in doorways so no-one else can get in out or by! I find shouting works best for this type of self centred shambling idiot

Most three lane motorways seem to work as follows, I) inside lane full of hgv's travelling at their legal limit 60mph.2) middle lane full of cars doing 70mph legal maximum 3) outside lane full of nutters doing anything up to and including 100mph and collecting 3 "bonus" points for doing so, True or false? PS undertaking on any motorway is illegal and dangerous.

thats easy that i work for the highways agencey so when i am on the road and responding to a road traffic accident you just flash your head lights at them and indercat to the left and they usually move over

talktoomuch
Oh this really pi$$e$ me off, I overtake them in the fast lane then go straight in front of them, then across into the slow lane so there sitting in the middle on there own looking daft (i have no road rage, i just turn my music up)

Flash your lights at them so they know you want to get by. You shouldn't have to change lanes because they are bad drivers, but do so if they don't get the hint. And don't become one of those idiots who tailgate either. Its an offence to tailgate and you can be cautioned for doing so. How do you know the car in front is not a police car - or any of the cars driving nearby? I've heard of the people being tailgated to hit the brakes before, due to roadrage and thats when it all gets ugly and just plain stupid - you get a busted front end for your troubles and its potentially very dangerous for the other safe road users. Remember not to undertake though!

Barking mad is a prime example. Even worse are those idiots who are doing about 60mph in the middle lane(they think they are going fast)
The sooner we get cameras on bridges to catch these nutters, the better.

Yes, can't understand why they don't move back into the left hand lane when they have finished overtaking and it completely clear ahead.

they infuriate me they should get in the slow lane they are to blame for the majority of accidents. arggh

Tailgate them until they realise I'm in a police car and move their a*sses!!

In one journey I was in left lane catching up with the middle lane hogger, I had to move into the right lane just to overtake and moved straight back in the left - when it was safe - twice this happened.

The third time I thought **** it and just undertook them, I remained in the left lane.

It can be annoying.

It is often difficult to judge when to move back to the left hand lane, for example, you can see a slow moving vehicle some distance in front, do you change lanes or not.

If I am passing slower vehicles, I tend to stay in the middle until the gap on the left is sufficiently long to avoid another lane change for at least 30 seconds, does that make me a middle lane hogger?

I have come across drivers who have been on the road for 3 or 4 hours, whose concentration has lapsed and who tend to avoid any lane changes. I guess they are too tired. Perhaps these need to leave the road and wake up.

It also annoying to have started an overtaking move to have someone approach at in excess of 100mph flashing their lights and blowing their horn etc. The limit is 70mph, stick to it.

What is needed is a little consideration all round, don't cut in in front of trucks or buses, or anyone for that matter.

When driving in traffic, the constant lane changing and overtaking is likely to save only a couple of minutes on your trip, but will make you more aggressive and even dangerous.

Chill out, put some classical music on the radio.cd player, and live with it or ride a motorcycle.

The secret to stress free driving is to allow plenty of time, start off in plenty of time and always allow for delays.

The middle lane gives you 2 choices.....pass on the right or left........

I think I am a little guilty of this, but I always do 70 mph, and steal a couple of miles at a time when needed, so anyone wanting to overtake me is breaking the speed limit, and if you do as you are supposed to and stay in the nearside lane, you will be stuck behind slow lorries and never get out for ages.

Jude
It's actually safer to stay in one lane rather than keep swapping around all the time, so overtake on the outside if you have to, otherwise just put up with it.

fedup
I got a hefty ticket today for a 67 in in 60. Based upon this, these comments annoy me. There is a fine line between 60 and 67. I think now, I am going to go 60 in any darn lane I please, and the State Patrol better leave me alone. If not, I will flash a copy of their ticket in their face. If it says, 60, go 60 & quit whining at people. I payed the price for a grievous 7 over.
