My driving lessons ? - Automatic or Manual driving lessons? ?

Hello ,
I am 17 male and want to do my driving lessons.
Being the lazy person I am I want to do an automatic. I will prob drive an automatic anyway. And then can go re-do my manual test later in life if needed.
How long would driving lessons take for me to be ready for my test ? All you really need to know is the theory and then able to know the rules of the road for driving . Automatic is simple enough and I do not think it should take that long.
Also what small cars can you get in automatic. I do not want to be driving a Mercedez Benz or BMW. Main reason being the insurance cost.

If you pass the UK practical test on an a vehicle having automatic transmission, you may only drive an automatic. This severely limits you career wise. Don't be lazy! |

How long would driving lessons take for you to be ready for your test? Only u can answer that question. You can takes weeks of lessons and still not be ready.But shouldn't take more than a few hours behind the wheel. Once u know u can control the car, ur ready.Dont worry about trying to find a compact with an automatic, they're everywhere.But trust me, u want a manual.They're so much more fun. |

do not buy a small auto, they are useless. The smallest engine you need for an auto box is 1600cc, preferably bigger! |

How ever long you have your permit is how long you should practice driving, and it varies by state.
Automatics are the way to go, and after you get your license, you don't go back and get a test for a manual transmission, you can drive either at that point.
All small cars come with automatic transmissions sometimes as an option, but if you're looking at used cars, just make that one of your criteria.
