My husband was injured due to faulty airbag and seatbelt of his Toyota Tacoma. Legal advice? Help?

My husband was injured due to faulty airbag and seatbelt of his Toyota Tacoma. Legal advice? Help?

He is 30 years old and his aorta( largest artery in the body) was torn more than 50 %. He almost died. God is all that saved him, and extremely skilled surgeons. We have three children who almost lost their daddy. Toyota should be responsible for that faulty airbags that did not deploy and the seat belt that unlatched causing him to be ejected from his truck. Any ideas legal advice or suggestions are welcome!
Have a happy holiday and always tell those close to you how much you love them. He was on his way to work. That was the last thing I said to him as he left. It could have been the last thing he heard. God Bless.

Thunder 2 your answer is rude and incorrect. My husband suggested I get every opinion I could and We have spoke to several lawyers. I was hoping others who had the same unfortunate experiences would share comments with me. FYI my husband and I have been together since he was 15 and I was 16 he is 30 and I am 31.

Legal representation is your best course of action. If you can't afford one, contact legal aid in your area. I didn't see what state you were in, but we are in upstate NY and our company does investigations for cases just like this.
As mentioned in a previous response, KEEP THE TRUCK for investigation and inspection purposes. It will be critical to your case!
Please feel free to contact me through our website & we can discuss things more privately and in further detail. I am not soliciting business, but offering my professional opinion in your best interest.

I hope your husband and your family recover soon and well. I'm sorry for your pain.

The Mr. Pine
A mechanic should investigate the belt and air bag to see weather they were faulty. Only a malfunction of a proper device will get a case heard. If they were previously damaged you will have no case.

I see good advice from just about all the people here. I like the advice to get a picture of the vehicle. I would add to get pictures, in daylight, of the accident scene, including any rubber marks, a police report, and the best hand drawn map you can draw of the accident. (I am not joking. Draw a map of the streets involved, the angle of the vehicles before during and after impact. This will create additional backup explanation to fight Toyota.) I liked the advice about consulting a mechanic. I would also try to correspond with "The Tappet Brothers" Tom and Ray Magliosi. They often have information on 'hidden recalls' in the industry. By the way I often wonder about a recall on Toyota's interior dome lights. A lot of 1990's model Toyotas, including Lexus models run into problems with interior dome lights. It is too much of a coincidence for all these different Toyota models to have malfunctioning dome lights. Additional advice: I have read stories about car companies putting off lawsuits for DECADES before finally having a judgement against them. The one I am specifically thinking of is the theft, by the automotive industry of the wiper delay invention from its original inventor. (sorry I can't remember his name). He sued one of the major companies, (sorry again, I can't remember who it was), and it took 30 years before he got into court. Several lawyers gave up on him, and only because his children urged him to try one more time did the last lawyer finally prod the courts to rule in his favor. That opened the flood gates for him to go after all the other car companies that stole his invention. I say this as a forewarning. I think you understand the implications of this true story. Best of luck. Merry Christmas and be well.

call a lawyer and not a website! why would you risk getting bad advice when your husband's health is at risk here? Do you really care about him? If he knew this was what your best decision was, he would run for the hills as quickly as he could!

1. TALK WITH AN ATTORNEY.

2. CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION.

3. CONTACT TOYOTA.

4. TAKE PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE NOW.

5. DO NOT RELEASE THE VEHICLE.

6. IF YOU HAVE TO, TOW THE VEHICLE TO YOUR HOME UNTIL YOU GET THIS HANDLED.

GOOD LUCK

Get a good "personal injury" attorney and sue Toyota. Your husband should be compensated for his injury, emotional distress, future health issues caused by the injury, economic hardship, etc.

Good website to find a personal injury attorney:
