You should have left a note explaining the situation and a promise to return and remove it ASAP. |
|

the city will tow it, if you contact the police they'll tell you what tow yard it went to... get it back TODAY or you'll end up paying $30-$50 "storage" fee for everyday that you have it there
Good Luck |

They probably had the car towed because they thought it was abandoned especially if it was "a piece of junk" as you say. |

Actually not that messed up. You should have went up to the house and explained the situation before just leaving the car. I would do the same thing. |

It could be that the owners of the house called or maybe they didn't have anything to do with it. If a car is in any way blocking the road it can be towed by the local authorities. I think it's kind of crappy to tow the car right away...I would have probably left a note on the car, though, with an explanation and way to get in touch with her. |

the city sometimes does this for public safety |

I think I would call the police and see if they know |

The police probably had this done, not the homeowner. Even if it was, they had no way to know the car wasn't abandoned if you didn't go up and speak to them about it. |

you should check with that home owner to see if they had it towed....usually the city or county will have a ticket/sticker notice placed on the vehicle, unless it is in a totally unsafe area for other drivers....
also, for future reference, if this happens again, leave a note in the front windshield saying that the car is disabled and give a phone # where the police or tow driver can call you at....give a timeline of when you will be back to...."this car is disabled, I will be back 'tuesday' afternoon to have it towed, jumped, etc, you can reach me at ###-###-####" |

yes very messed up but maybe you should of put a note on the car even though that might not even of help..Maybe the police had it tolled and not the homeowner. Sry it happened too ya.. |

It depends. If someone left their car in my property, I would move it too...well, actually, I'd wait a few days and if it's still there, then I would move it. |

Not at all...if they were feeling particularily testy, they could sue you for storage fees or charge you for trespassing. You or your sister (assuming no cells) should have asked the owners to call a tow truck, or at the very least, should have walked-up the drive and asked if you could leave it there overnight to arrange a tow or something else. |

CAPTAIN GENIUS !!

I would have had it towed but after a week not the first day. I would call the police maybe they can track it if you give them the license plate number. Or worse maybe some one stole it! call the police and find out if you can get any info. |

You two left the car, didn't call the Police, didn't go to the peoples house to tell them, yet you think it was messed up on everybody elses part but you and her???? Not!!!
Some areas give you two hours to get it out, fixed, towed as long as its off of the highway. The next day? Why didn't you do any of the things I mentioned?? Its going to cost!! |

If it were on the side of the road police would have impounded it. |

my brain hurts

If you left your car on my property I would call the police as well, sorry. You will have to call the police and pay the impound and towing fees. Perhaps if you or your sister had spoken to the person who owns the property things might've been different. |

I don't know if they have a right to tow it, but they should have told you about towing it first...
A friend of mine had his car towed by the council after leaving it parked (fully taxed/ insured/ mot-ed) on the street, but didn't drive it for a few weeks as he has a company car.
When he finally tracked down where it had got to, the council told him it had been towed because it so dirty they figured it must have been abandoned! |
|

Katilyn
|
Well they had to right to tow it b/c it was on their land....but they could have waited a couple of days to see if someone was coming back to get the car .....that is kinda messed up............ |

maybe the town take it to the junk |

I'd ask the police, maybe the people in the house had nothing to do with it. Really there's nothing you can do about it now besides go pick up the car from the tow company. |

I can't believe they did that! In most cases if an officer sees a car on the side of the road they will run the tag and vin number to check things out and then leave a tag on it to notify the owner to remove the vehicle within a certain amount of time or it will be towed.
Unless it was close to the road and pose a possible danger of someone running in to it or in a spot where there might be a blind corner, they should have left it there for atleast 2-3 days to see if you would come and get it.
Now you are probably stuck with towing and storage fees. |

well duh it probally got impounded it was illegally parked |

THE LAW STATES THAT IF A VEHICLE IS LEFT UNATTENDED FOR OVER 24 HOURS OR IF LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT CAN BE TOWED AWAY, HOWEVER IF YOU LEFT YOUR NAME AND NUMBER WITH WHY WAS PARKED ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL IN MOST CASES WORK WITH YOU. |
