If they are at half life now, how many miles did you drive on them already?

The life of tires depend on what type of rubber they are made of, and your individual driving and road conditions.

Just because a tire manufacturer says their tires can last 65,000 miles doesn't mean the tires WILL last that long. Weather conditions, humidity and your driving style all play factors. What is more important is how much tread you have left on your tires.

I check my tires every few days, looking for cracks, bumps, whatnot. I also make sure they are properly inflated as low-pressure tires could result in serious "low flats."

if you look in the tire tread there will be some bumps in between the tread. when those bumps are flush to the tire tread its time to replace them

Depends on the formulation of your tires. Some are made with a more durable rubber material. That's why you see figures like "20,000 mile," "30,000 mile," " 50,000 mile" on the data when you buy them. Obviously, the 50,000 mile tire will cost you more than the 20,000 mile tire.

Even these numbers are only good for comparison, since the manufactureres have no way of knowing the condition of the roads you drive, or your driving habits.

We have no way of telling you how many more miles you can expect to get out of the tires on your car.

yes there are those bumps but I find tires never last all that long - you start getting flats first .

Depends on the roads you drive on.

In snow they could be right on the edge already.

If you drive in heavy rain hydroplaning becomes a risk anytime the tread depth gets below 3/16" at 55 mph. 1/4 " at 60+ MPH.

Dry roads you can run them right down to the wear bars 5/32" when 2 bars appear on two adjacent grooves the tire is no longer legal to use.

it all depends on where and how you drive.
