My windscreen fogs up ... best way to prevent it ?
|
It is winter in london.
every morning i have to suffer with a fogged windscreen as soon as i put the heater. t
he only way out is for me to put the heater and airconditioner on. that clears the fogging ...but defeats the purpose of putting the heating on in the first place.
i direct all my heating to the windscreen but even that doesn't help.

In modern cars, air conditioning is supposed to work with the heater!!!
Air conditioning dehumidifies the air so that it is dry and demists very quickly and effectively
There are an amazing number of people out there who think that the aircon is only for delivering cold air - this isn't true!
Use it with hot air - you aren't going to damage the aircon unit. Turn the aircon temperature and fan up to max. |

Bill N is correct. Please use your air conditioner and turn up the heat control to max. Even with cold air blowing the window will clear if you have the air con switched on as it dries the air coming into the car. DO NOT open your car windows as this will nullify the effect of bringing dry air into the car. |

Have you ever used polish inside the car, primarily on the dashboard? The silicone and wax in the polish sticks to the screen and is well-renowned to be a real pain the 'arris to boys and girls in the second-hand car game...
Best rule of defence, is DON'T POLISH YOUR DASH!, even the proper "in car" stuff will cause havoc on the screen if you're too liberal spraying it everywhere.
I use an alcohol based glass cleaner with added vinegar. It does a superb job of clearing the crud from the screen, but be prepared for some elbow grease and hard scrubbing! Although it doesn't smell exactly pretty = p... a good air freshener hung from the mirror or clipped to the air-vents compensates for the vinegary stink which thankfully doesn’t last too long. Mind you, it is a shame sometimes as you wouldn’t be pestered for lifts if your car stunk, but then it doesn’t exactly make you popular, as people might then blame your hygiene! Hope this helps anyway. = ) |

Bill N & Iain are right.Use the A/C.So many peoply never use it in the winter,by using it you also keep the oil in the A/C gas circulating which stops the systems seals from drying out, thus meaning you wont need the system topping up as frequently. |

I believe Rainx makes anti-fog wipes that you can use on the inside of the windshield. You should be able to get these at any auto parts store or general retail store that has an automotive section. |

Don't put the air-con on ,and just put heater to lowest setting ,if you put it at the high setting(fast blow) you get the wind chill factor, should clear in 2-3 Min's ,if you don't have the time to wait ,get up 2-3 Min's earlier |
