No there is no new driving ages in NJ.

That is nothing but a rumor that has been circulating in every state for quite some time. It is nothing but a hoax.

I will say this again- NO there is NO NEW DRIVING AGES in NJ.
It is NOTHING BUT A RUMOR, only a HOAX.

There is no new laws changing the ten driving age, no new laws pending within the state Legislation, there is no new laws waiting for the Governor's signature, there is no Bills in Committee to become a law to change the driving age, no Legislators writing a Bill to try to get the ages changed.

The only changes that has been done & is most likely the cause for all of these fake, false, incorrect rumors is the states have adopted some form of a Graduated Driver's License (GDL) for teen drivers under 18.

The minimum age to get a permit in NJ is still 16. The minimum age to get your Provisional License or GDL is still 17. Nothing has changed & nothing is in the process of changing.

Any so called changes that are associated with being born in 1992 or 1994 is going to be a hoax.

Rebuttal:
From the link you provided & I quote:

"To the best of our knowledge New Jersey has not changed the age for obtaining a provisional driver's license. According to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) the minimum age to obtain a provisional license is 17. There is no mention of a change in this since it appears this higher age has been helping to lower fatalities in teenagers.

New Jersey has a Graduated Driver License (GDL) program in place for teen and first-time drivers. This class of driver must complete the GDL process to get their unrestricted basic driver’s license. The NJ Graduated Driver License Law came into effect January 1, 2001."

The information in your own link plainly states "New Jersey has not changed the age for obtaining a provisional driver's license"

The proof you provided in your own defense even proves that the laws have not changed since the GDL laws took effect in 2001, completely invalidating your claim & proving that it is a HOAX. I'm sorry, but I spent numerous hours researching this rumor, calling & emailing police officers from numerous states, emailing state Legislators, researching state websites, and there is NO SUCH LAW pertaining to any person born after 1994 in ANY state (including NJ) in regards to not being able to get a license until you are 18. I have answered so many emails that teen have sent to me & questions I've answered in this forum regarding this exact same question about laws changing if you were born after 1994, that had I been paid a dollar for each question I answered, I could be sitting on a beach in the Bahama's right now drinking Mai Tai's.

My research has been pretty intensive so I can make sure that the teens get the right answer & this is nothing more than an unfounded rumor & the laws are still the same in NJ- Permit at 16, License at 17.

yes it will change to 18. I thought it was anyone born after 89 but my nephew told me he it just missed him (he is 16). NJ keeps changing it.

Please note=in response to the third post. This isn't a hoax. They have been changing it for almost 5 years now and keep bumping the year up because it conflicts with drivers ed.
