Okay i saw roadkill on the road!?

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Nothing. Don't hit it, since it can damage your vehicle.

Road crews will clean up whatever the other animals don't get to first.

stop your vehicle immediately, but make sure you are safe and pulled over on the side of the road - don't forget to put on your four ways...get out of your car. pick up a stick, then approach the animal with caution (don't forget to look both ways before crossing the street), poke the animal with the stick to make sure it is definitely dead and won't bite. next, bend down next to the animal, check for a pulse and any sign of a breathing pattern.... if none, use your stick as a skewer and pick up the animal. walk to the side of the road, looking both ways again because you don't want to become roadkill. get some sticks and rocks. put the rocks in a circle pattern with the sticks inside built up like a teepee. start rubbing 2 sticks together until you get a spark, keep going until there is a fire.....(only rub the 2 sticks together if you don't have a match or lighter, as these will save you time) put the animal over the fire, roast until crispy. when done, let cool for 5 minutes, the ENJOY.

result: good old fashion side of the road cooked meal. AKA - quick southern dinner

if it might cause an accident call your state highway patrol and give them the mile marker and location of the obstruction. DO NOT EVER try to remove roadkill on your own as it may have a communicable disease (rabies for example), might not actually be completely deceased and lastly, you run the risk of being hit yourself while trying to do the right thing by moving it. If it is on the shoulder and not in a travel lane, a road crew will eventually clean it up. If it is larger game like a Moose, Deer or in some states a bear... contact the State fish and Game Warden and provide them with the exact location as many Fish & Game Offices track herd movements in relation to road kills.
