Old and not a clue help is now despartly needed?

HELP my friend has no idea of which way is left or right when in car i say turn left she looks at me puzzled and turns right??!! wot gives etc how do you teach she oops i mean them to know which way is left and right

What do you mean by "old"? Maybe your friend has dementia or Alzheimer's and shouldn't be trying to drive. She probably needs to be checked by a specialist.

when giving directions use arm movement as well as saying left or right then after some time drop the arm movement, that might work

Write L and R on the relevant hands. If this person is elderly then perhaps he/she should have a medical.

Do like we did in my family. Instead of left and right(which can make people pause for a second anyway) you say Driver's side and Passenger's side.

BTW we weren't doing it for elderly people, we were doing it because it was simpler. Those saying it's just the person is old are wrong in my opinion.

If they have an issues with something as simple like this then its either time for them to get professional help or stop driving all together........

well, just say left when you mean right, and right when you want them to turn left = problem solved!

the official terms are near side (kerb) and far side (away from the kerb) but if this is a developing problem rather than an existing problem, it might be time to suggest surrendering the licence. age has an effect on the ability to drive and there is no way of either excusing it or rectifying it. if they are a danger they need to do the responsible thing!

Some people are confused when they get in the car due to the fact that when they are outside looking at the car head on. "There" right is the driver's side & there left is the passengers. This happens to alot of people.

I have worked in the Automotive Field for 20+ years. When ordering parts most parts guys and the person ordering the parts will use "drivers & passengers" as a reference instead of rt & lt, because people get confused while in the car.

I would use the terms ( Driver's and Passengers )
