There are these kids in my neigborhood, rednecks, about 16/17 years old and they drive like a bat outta hell all over the dirt roads where I live. Even though their best friend just died from a reckless driving accident. I am especially worried, as I have a 3 year old who's parents rent from my parents next door, and he is really active, and his parents are awfully nonchalant about him wandering... What if he wandered out in the road while those guys were driving past??? My friend and I have watched them speed before, and made the slow down sign, but we were talking with my parents, and my parents believe that what would be most effective is to have us talk to them and tell them not to speed. I disagree, because I think they would not be impressed because we are a good deal younger, but then my mom said that they look at us a lot, and have tried to impress us before, which is true. (I don't want to sound vain, but my friend and I are both quite beautiful, and we live near a lake so we walk around a lot in our bathing suits.)
Do you think it would have any impact if we said something to them?
My mom said it would be a lot better if we said it rather then her saying it.
(The other option is to ask the farmer who they help out at his farm whom they look up to to tell them)
Normally I'd want to stay out of things like this, but i think of them endangering the lives of my little neighbor and my dogs and cats, and even my own, and I get really pissed. You'd think they'd get it when their friend died from speeding. So, Older guys... what do you think????
Could younger girls change your mind? If she was really tall and beautiful, and sure of herself???

When I was in high school, a young mother told me to slow down when going by her house, and I did (a little).
It can't hurt, anyway.
If you are really tall and beautiful, try sun bathing in the front yard - that will make the boys will slow down (maybe even stop) when they go by.

be polite...be friendly,,,yes talk to them,,,and first guy is right,,1 at a time if you can,,,,but at age 16 guys are full of piss and vinegar,,and their ears don't work well..also key words,,,"tell them" not to speed,,,,better to "ask them"..just say the dopes next door let the kid wander and to be careful.. |
