Pain in left wrist whilst riding a motorbike?

my husband has resently done his cbt and ended up with a lot of pain in his left wrist due to the clutch on it. is this normal? his hand actually locked up at one point. he wants to go for the direct access course. do you think that he will be ok to go for it once his wrist is better, or should he quit whist he is ahead. he does manually work and is worried about whether it could damage his wrist as he has suffered from rsi in the past.

Pain is never normal. The human body uses pain ti identify a problem. Now that doesn't mean it's something that is going to cause permanent damage to his wrist. It could just be cramping up from an unusual position of the wrist. It could also be a symptom of carpos tunnel syndrome.

CTS is a condition that occurs when the wrist remains in a bent position for long periods of time. A gristle like substance grows across the nerves in the wrist and can cause pain and will cause numbing of the hand and fingers. To tell if it is CTS, The thumb and first three fingers will go numb. Straightening the wrist by holding it straight down at your side will make it go away pretty quickly. CTS does not affect the pinky finger, because the nerves to that finger run outside of the wrist bones instead of through the carpo's tunnel of the wrist.

sounds to me like he might have carpal tunnel syndrome. Maybe if you looked up CTS on the internet fore more information.

Usually its the throttle wrist. Tell him to try wearing a wrap it may lessen the pain by supporting the wrist.

a lot of first time riders get this try gently squeezing a soft ball to build up the wrist mussels

1st of all is he loves it he wont let a little wrist stop him second of all it does put a strain on his wrist when he turns it. It probably happened , because he wasnt drinking enough fluids. its very important to drink water when doing something exhausting or straining to the body and hell be fine and it will be safe for him to keep doing it

its normal to have pain on the wrist .....since he rides motorcycles ....i used to ride my bros quad all the time i would have a lot of pain on wrist but it takes time to heal so theres no need to worry it takes about 1 or 2 weeks ......this causes because you lift the motorcycle on the two wheels on the back or when u clutch a lot ..
