I don't know where you're located, but within most city limits there aren't angle-in parking spaces everywhere, nor does everybody have a driveway or parking lot to pull their car into. So unless you intend to just leave your car in the middle of the street when you want to get out of it, then you're going to have to learn to parallel park.
You just see it as knocking over a barrel. You have to understand that that barrel represents somebodies car or a pedestrian. If you can't show the instructor/examiner that you can control your vehicle in a simple maneuver such as parking, then it's their obligation to disqualify you.
Trust me, later in life when you buy your own car and you see someone that doesn't know how to park trying to park in front or behind you, and it raises the hair on the back of your neck (if not your blood pressure), you'll understand why it's important. It doesn't matter if it's a 10 year old Chevy or a brand new Lexus, nobody wants to see their car getting "kissed", or their grille/bumper pushed in by some reckless driver that didn't take the time to practice parking.
Grow up and practice parking, the driving test shouldn't be changed just because you have a problem with it. If it were the majority (which it's not), then I would agree with you. |

Should make you do it twice.
The reason for anything to be on the test is to prove that you CAN do it in the real world. There will be times that the ONLY space you find will require you to parallel park to use it.
For your writing class paper I would suggest a few capitals. |

You should learn how to parallel park because if you ever need to do so say in the city or somewhere then will at least done it a couple of times so you don't mess up someones car.
Get someone to take you out more so you can learn and not be nervous. Practice makes perfect. Take your time and you will get it. |

If you think a simple thing like parallel parking is tough you should see what you have to do to get a C.D. L. or Commercial Drivers license. |

if parallel parking shouldn't be part of it, then you shouldn't allow to drive a car.
anyway just more practice, also make sure you learn the skill from a Driver Ed, not a friend. |

No it should be because it takes skill to do it. So you might as well learn. |

Some people can't drive in a straight line, should that be removed from the test as well?
Sooner or later, you have to parallel park. It may be for a doctor's appointment, or visiting at a hospital, any one of a number of things. You are darned dangerous if you fart around trying to get a car in a slot when you don't know what you are doing.
I avoid parallel parking if I can, but I still have to do it at least once a week. The rest of us learned to parallel park, and many of us have had to parallel park on both sides of the street. Learn to do it or walk. |

Many motorists consider parallel parking the most difficult part of driving.
But practice will teach you how to back up properly and to judge distances and angles.
Patience and self confidence will help you master the task.

Women shouldnt be allowed to take the test.
That or you could show your male instructors a good time and you'll pass the test with flying colors... |
