There is no law that says your parents HAVE to let you drive, even to practice, once you get a permit. Your parents might feel that you are not ready for all of the responsibility and maturity that driving requires. You can like it or not but you do need to accept and deal with it. They have their reasons, even if you don't agree with them.

just reading your question and not knowing you I can tell you have anger issues and I'm sure they know this already. Just calm down it is their car after all, let them know by word and action you are a dependable and responsible person< |

I would suggest that you first try and speak with them in a calm and civil voice and explain everything to them and take it one step at a time... |

You need to negotiate with them and reach a compromise. Like, can you teach me how to drive on the weekends only, pops. It shouldn't be that hard. When I first learned how to drive my parents were hesitant and frightened too, but after practicing at the mall (we basically drove circles around the mall on Saturday at 8 am LOL) they gradually became more accepting.
See if they're willing to negotiate. Persuade them that it's all right, as long as they teach you well, nothing will go wrong.
Good luck. |

take your first driving lesson with your instructor, and maybe after, have your instructor convince your parents that you need to drive in order to practice and get familiar with the roads/car. 50 practice hours are needed when you get your permit! |

The Procedures in the United Kingdom are as follows :
- Driver requests a provissional licence, costs about £45
- Licence Arrives
- Driver can book lessons with a qualified trainer, or taught by parents
- Driver takes an on screen theory test
- Driver takes a Practical test
- Provissional licence is posted off, with the test result form
- Full Licence arrives - This is full entitlement to drive unattended
Parents NEVER have to provide permission, it is the drivers discretion entirely, and they must meet the requirements set. |

putting you behind the wheel of their car is a liability. if you crash the car, or if someone hits your car, you're screwed! you are most likely NOT on their insurance policy so insurance won't cover ANY damage! they might have to spend thousands of dollars just because you wanted to go on a joy ride. you need to understand that your parents have other things to worry about. build up more experience, then go driving. |

You have every legal right to drive, afterall you have passed your test.
What was the point otherwise, if you do not drive regularly now you may forget all or some of the driving skills you were taught.
If I were you I would save up some money and buy your own car!
Why did your parents let you learn to drive in the first place if they don't want you to drive?
They are being harsh and I don't blame you for being angry, I too would be furious. |

well there is a good reason that they are not letting you drive just yet, they still feel as though they need to protect you and the car, so if you have a little money saved up, go out and buy your own little beater car to drive around in. this way they won't be so worried about you messing up the parents car :), Also just make sure you do have insurance, an accident can be very costly. Just be patient with them, it's hard to let your little one grow up and still try to be there for them, don't really stress out about this, they will come around. ( this happened to me too, and it only took them till the end of the week with me pestering them) state your case, try not to get to emotional, and they will see that you are grown enough to do this, and besides, you are 17 in another year they won't be able to do anything about it anyway so they might as well teach you now before you decide to learn on your own. |

drive around in your complex with them, then slowly progress to short distances on the street...
they are probably more worried about your safety then the money... i know cause same thing happened to me...
good luck. |

Ask friends. Ask other family. Ask your instructor. Your parents arent your only source to learn how to drive. |
