Okay, you've given an opinion, perhaps a rant. Did you also have a question? It's the concept of choice and consequence. You make choices, and pay consequences for the choices you make, some good, some bad. Driving to school and having a place to park isn't a right. If you have a school that gives you a place to call yours to park in, count yourself lucky. If you then do something stupid to lose that spot, YOU are the one who has been stupid, not the school.
Wait until you are in the work force, or in college, where you get a permit to park but no guarantee that there will be a place to park.
But to answer your question, which I guess is "Do you think this is stupid?" (no, I think it's a consequence of your behavior) and "any ideas?" Yes, if you can't follow the rules, go back to taking the bus to school. |

I'm a senior in HS, and we just have one big parking lot, next to the baseball, and football fields. It's 20.00 a year. We can park anywhere we like in the lot, as long as it's in between the lines. I wish we did have assigned spots, I think it would make parking safer, and less of a mad dash race to get a good spot. I know this one girl that caused $4500 of damage on her car, from not paying attention, in the parking lot. The high school parking lot is the worst place to drive, that I can imagine. Also, about 3 times a week people hit parked cars. =[
I'm SO scared to leave my baby down there. |

It's a good idea, especially from the school's perspective. Without assigned spots, students would be circling forever trying to find the closet places and getting into fights over who was there first. Plus, nearly the entire student body would be late for first period. If everyone just goes to a preassigned spot, all of that is eliminated and it probably helps the school keep track of how many people are driving to school. If there aren't enough spots available to give you one, then you will know that you have to ride the bus. Kids who have jobs right after school may be able to get priority. |

That actually isn't too bad. Assigned spots are a bit much, but that isn't too bad. That is similar to most private lots like that. My school is worse. Underclassmen (sophomores and juniors) must park in a lot a little over a block away and across the street from the school. Seniors get a small lot that is across the street behind the teacher's lot. If you have any infractions, you lose your privilege to the senior lot. Then you must pay for a permit to park in the street (competing with local residents and other people). At least you have a lot. The school I went to as a freshman didn't even have a lot. |

I think that it is great that your school has assigned parking. It is an assentive to behave.
I never had this problem in school. My school had more than enough parking for its driving students. We did not have assigned parking. It was first come, first serve. Since humans are creatures of habit this was not usually a problem. The students usually parked in the same spots or same general area. Some parked by where their first class was, some parked by their where their last class was. Others parked where they thought they would not be seen if they were to sneak out for a smoke. |

think your self lucky that your school has a car park for students. In Australia school students don't get parking lots they park in the streets surrounding the school & hope their car isn't damaged or stolen at the end of the day. Because of this not as many students drive to school as the USA has. To have an assigned parking spot is a good idea as you have a guaranteed spot to park & if you do something wrong & loose it you have no one to blame but yourself. |
