Ok first off I am an Okie, and schools can be closed for one sheet of ice around here. I want to know how to make it to work, how to stay out of the ditches, and how to master the okiebane known as ice. It scares me

very carefully, leave early for work and be sure to leave lots of space between cars. you have grip on very cold ice, the most dangerous and slippery ice is when it is just starting to thaw< |

where im from in washington gets ice storms instead of snow...
just go slow... no one will care because your bein safe...
make sure you have good tires...
not ones that are worn out because that makes hell of a difference
and when you start sliding dont slam on your breaks...
slowly push down if anything and steer away fromt hes lide if that makes sense |

Very carefully,and slowly.You have to drive according to the weather and road conditions.Ice is the second worst to drive on,black ice being the worst.Do they sand the ice?
The best advice for ice would be to stay in the ruts,leave a3 or4 car lengths in front of you.
If you begin to slide,steer and look the direction you want to go.
If you are braking and the wheels lock up,release them a bit or pump them quickly.
When steering,don't turn the wheel too quickly,give the car a chance to react.
There are probably a lot more things,but basically it comes down to each situation,and experience. |
