I can sit at one end of a parking lot where I can see drivers turning in at the other end but its too far to see if the driver is man or woman. Eight times out of ten I swear I can tell which are turning in this parking lot. This is what I have seen myself, not some statistic. Woman are far more likely to come around a blind corner at a high speed, or to drive through a lot where kids might step from behind cars, at a high speed. In fairness, boys are more likely to be going down the highway showing off to their friends by driving twice the speed limit. Because of "political correctness" your not supposed to say such things now. But I think when they are little kids girls are still treated a little different than boys. Because of this girls grow up to drive within the rules but having not played rough as kids they are unaware of pain as much as boys. So when they drive they drive within the rules but are unaware of possible consequences. Boys don't care about driving within the rules because they want to show off and go fast. But they do it different than girls. Hard to explain, sorry. |

Go to your insurance company on line and pretend you're a woman. Use your same car and your same age and see if it doesn't come out lower. |

I think men do have more accidents - but that's because they're all swerving out of the way of the women.
That certainly makes women a better bet for the insurance companies - but it doesn't mean they're safer, does it? |

I don't see as many women in engine building, racing, or drag racing. It's more of a male thing to have fun with vehicles. Most women want a new stock 4 door or large SUV to handle children, while most guys want a sports car or modified vehicle. I'm not in the UK though, what do I know? Would love to have an old Austin Mini Cooper! |

I’ve had my DL for 3 years now so far no accidents and no fender benders. My husband has had 2 accidents in a total of 4 years. |

The old story goes 'Never had a crash - seen hundreds in the mirrors' is usually quite applicable.
Most of the accidents on our local motorway and surounding A roads usually involve young ladies, either through hesitation, incorrect lane changing or failing to maintain the car correctly which led to a breakdown and subsequent collision.
Quite rightly, any other driver, male OR female, should be able to allow for these minor incidents and avert an accident, but none of us is perfect.
What is interesting, and I believe the common misnomer for Ladies being rated as better drivers, is that in the number of incidents we attended, all gave their husbands or partners insurance details - i.e they were a named driver on the policy.
Unfortunately, the way the policies work is that the claim is registered against the policy owner - usually the man and therefore the statistics reflect this.
It is becoming more common for named drivers now to be given their own NCB, and likewise any claim will be registered against them directly rather than the policy holder.
This is beginning to have the effect of changing the way the figures are produced, and is now becoming more based around the 'Number of events per mile driven'
In the current reporting stage - male drivers do have less accidents per mile driven than females. |

I only know that in the year 2000, women have a less rate of crashing than man. |

women are more likely to be involved in crashes than men, but men are involved in more serious accidents than women are. women bump their cars when parking or carrying out manouvers, in general their spacial perception is worse than a mans, this makes parking and 3 point turns etc more difficult for the 'average woman'. men are more likely to be involved in more serious crashes because the 'average man' is more likely to break the speed limit or take risks. the reason womens car insurance premiums tend to be cheaper is because the claim for a bump with a bollard in the tescos car park, although more likely than a moajor collision, is much cheaper and easier to deal with.
i have seen women puting on make up in their cars tho mostly while stopped at lights, i see both men and women using mobiles while driving, saw one man backing up to a pump at a petrol station while on the phone, how stupid can you get?! also see more men than women fiddling with their radios/cd players while driving.
i don't think you can generalise just based on gender who are the safer drivers. |

The truth of the matter is this and stats prove it.
Women get into more fender benders.
Men get into more fatal collisions.
People assume this to mean women are better drivers. WRONG. Men get into more accidents because men drive more. Husband and wife in car, most likely who will drive? The man.
Husband and wife with kids? If only 1 parent is going to work, who do you think will be the one going into rush-hour traffic? The husband.
But theres also no denying that men like to go faster, are more reckless, and more decisive. Which arent really that bad, as long as you know how to drive.
But I always see these dumbass women doing their makeup, their hair, talking on cellphones, in their big SUV's, sipping coffee, because they know they are going to cause some crashes today, and they would rather the other person gets hurt instead of them.
Overall. Men are better drivers. |
