Avoid unnecessary driving. Watch out for people who will hit you head-on, from the rear, or from the side. Don't trust other drivers to follow rules at intersections. Keep your windows clean. Drive with headlights on. Prefer divided highways. Keep your tires' air pressure up. Learn to quickly change a wheel.

In USA each state issues their own driver licence.

So they have a book that one needs to study, and take a written exam.

You will find the answers in that book.

You bought a new car, it came with owner's manual, so read it, few times, back to front and front to back.

Training school must have given you the training manuals, study them.

Rules By minootoo states.

1. Courtesy never fails.
2. Aways follow rules of the road. Never violet them.
3. Speed posted is the highest speed you can go at, no matter what.
4. Watch out for others, they may not be watching out for you but---.
5. Allow enough travel time.
6. Drive as much as you need to drive. Do not get on the road if it is not required.
7. Read the posted sines and follow them.
8. Keep the car under your control. You as a owner are truly responsible for the car, and the accident caused by others using your car or their car.
9. You are guilty of offence until you are proved innocent, and proving you are innocent is some times impossible even when you are truly innocent.
10. Have your car fully insured, to replace ment value, carry all other insurance on the car, do not drive even a foot without insurance.
11. Keep your car in good running order.
12. Pay attention to the breaks. If i it does not run then it is safe, you cannot go any where, but if it does not stop it will, can and may kill you.
13. Do not keep less then half full tank of gass(petrol), must fill up the tank when the gage shows it is half full.
14. Check visualy all fluid levels once a week, and just before long trips, check it completely.
15. Add to this list any other thing that you need to add.
16. Read this list again and again from time to time.

1. Always follow the traffic rules - even though others do not follow in our India.
2. Read your new car's manual - Very Important.
3. Maintain exact gear according to speed - if not, car's gear box may damage
4. Do not accelerate instantaneously - consumes fuel
5. Avoid harsh braking - leads skidding, may damage breaks
6. Do not use clutch unnecessarily - consumes fuel
7. Use lights in bad weather - which most of the people wont do.

Firstly ask your trainer to take to a plain ground and start teaching you, so that you get a proper knowledge of space and clearance of vehicle. Learn to co-ordinate hand, leg and eyes to operate clutch, gear and steering. Once you are confident of the mechanism then you start get on to the road. Try to perfect reversing too in the open ground. In this manner you will be absolutely confident on real road condition.

Try reading a driver's manual. You can get one at any DMV.

THE NUMBER ONE THING IS NOT TO DRINK AND DRIVE!!!

The one thing that I would say is learn how to share the road with the semi-trucks. That is how you can get in an accident very fast. Don't tailgate a truck, remember if you can not see both of the trucks mirrors the driver can not see you. Don't hang out beside a truck, it has a very large blind spot on the right side beside the cabs door. Don't cut in front of a truck too soon make sure you leave a lot of room. Just remember when passing a truck or car it is best to get over when you can see the entire vehicle in the rear view mirror. That means when you look in the rear view you can see the top of the truck.

Don't be afraid to ask your instructor about the safety around the big trucks. That is one thing that I think that is not taught enough in driver-ed. Hope this is some good advice..
