Hi,
my partner and i have the same debate over two issues when driving, when driving along should you stay to the left or right side nearest the centre line of your side of the road. ? I remember when i was learning i thought it was the left but my driving instructor said to stay closest to the centre, as being on the left side could confuse drivers, (they may think yoru pulilng over e.t.c)
and the other point is. My driving teacher taught me to cross the white edge line when turning left into a street. But my partner doesnt think that is right.
can anyone sort us out?

lol, I know u just helped me, but im good with the rules. Im going to assume you live in a country when driving on the left side of the road is regular. The shoulder of the road (which is beyond the white line) is meant for pedestrian and pedestrian use only. It is legal only to cross it if another vehicle (in your case) is making a right turn and is stopped in the middle of the road, and you need to pass him. Also, while driving, you should be centered in the middle of the lane, but if you really had to decide, you would stay to the left(outer edge of the road) just to give room to the cars in the opposing lane coming toward you and avoid accidents. |
