I was stopped at a red light and was hit by a large SUV (several times). A drunk lady caused this accident, which resulted in a 4 car pile up. I didnt hit anyone because I was the first car stopped at the light.
Luckily, she was insured, and so am I. We both have state farm.
I have been carless for the last few days because the insurance company is trying to figure out the details and have not been able to get intouch with "the drunk lady"...
I am getting VERY impatient, because the insurance company has made no effort to put me in a rental car. Adjusters have not came out to my house to let me know if the car is totaled. (Pretty sure it is)
So...my question is, what the hell is the hold up? How much figuring out needs to be done? The lady was drunk, and all cars involved were at a dead stop!! And what if she never answers their calls?
I know I will be reimburst for the rental car once it is proven to be her fault, but all in all, I dont want to max my credit cards up with car rental fees. Any suggestions?
(She was arrested on the spot)

Did you call your agent? Where is your car located? Is your car drivable? Does State Farm have a claim center nearby where you can bring your car in for a damage appraisal? Exactly what type of insurance do you have: liability only or full coverage? Rental coverage? Does she really have insurance? Did she have a valid license? Just because she had an old insurance card doesn't mean she actually had insurance.
It seems to me you've left out too many important details to give an answer other than to say it does seem your agent isn't doing a very good job for you. There are good agents and bad ones. Call your agent again and find out what's happening. Call the State Farm claims office if you don't get a satisfactory answer.
I have had State Farm insurance for almost 40 years and while I have only filed a handful of claims every one was settled quickly and fairly. |

I would definately call the insurance company and tell them that they need to get their act together. If that doesn't work, then I would maybe hire a lawyer. |

There is the needed investigation that will be done but as for the rental, that you should have got right away and your insurance company is dragging their behind, so call them back up and ask to speak with the supervision in charge..... |

i think you should just buy a bike.
how many bicyclists get hit (repeatedly) by a drunk driver and live to tell about it.
be glad the drunk lady had insurance and be patient with the insurance companies
Im willing to bet that the state farm <-> state farm factor plays into it.
Also nagging them is counter productive.
If renting a car is too expensive, take a bus.
If youre too good for the bus, walk.
If you dont have legs, get state farm to buy you some. |
