now would the driver stop the meter? or would it continue to charge me?

As an Ex taxi driver, I doubt if the drivers first thought would be to stop the meter, but that would depend on how bad the accident would be. However, you should not pay for the time the taxi is stopped, but decide on an arranged fare with the driver. if the Taxi is unable to proceed because of the damage, then the driver must get another taxi to complete your journey. In that case you only pay from where the accident happened to your destination.

on the time that you were hit or bump, the meter of the taxi must stopped.no charges should exceed beyond that and if the driver is truly a professional one, he could even spare you from paying your accidental ride with him.

they are legally required to stop the meter. also you should remember to wear a seatbelt in a taxi
