Rage in the driver's seat ....... ?

At an AARP sponsored course today for senior citizens, we were asked a question. . 'what is there about YOUR driving that makes other drivers angry'? My answer, which drew laughs was 'driving the legal speed limit'. Now, do you get it ?? Does this happen to you, when you are driving the speed limit and there is a car or cars behind you, drivers angry because THEY want to go faster ????

Oh yes, In fact we have construction underway here that will last THREE years on our main freeway through the city. Speed limit is 55, NO exceptions with fines of $500 for going OVER the limit, so I set my cruise to 55. I can't afford a fine!

But, MY WORD I have people come right up on my bumper, and will RIDE me like that for the 5 miles until they can pass at 55 or 70! Insane!

all the time everyone is in a hurry i'm always having other drivers overtaking me when i am already driving at the speed limit only to see them disapear into the distance .

It sure does, everyone is is so much of a rush. I'm forty now and haven't been in a hurry for the last ten years. On a long trip I watch all the cars pass me. Every now and then I get the biggest kick from the people in a rush sitting on the side of the road getting a speeding ticket. Not only does it cost them more for gas as they are using it faster. It costs more for insurance and for the ticket.Just remember, you can only go as fast as the car in front of you!!

Yes, that happens.

Aggressive drivers, if behind slower drivers, want slower drivers to get out of the way. This results in following too closely. You look in your review mirror and cannot see the front bumper of the vehicle behind you. This is following too closely.

Sometimes, this can result in rear-end collisions because if the slower driver ahead slows abruptly, the aggressive driver does not have time to react.

It is best to slow down and let these 'aggressive drivers' pass you.

I know exactly what you mean. My pet peeve of all time is tailgaters. I've been rearended twice. Not because I was going too slow either time. The first time I was turning onto my road and the kid behind me was looking in the rear view at his braces and hit me without even touching the brakes. The second time I was stopped in a line of traffic and the car behind me was actually speeding up to keep a car from the road to the left from coming onto the road in front of him and he hit me so hard it broke my DASH board and threw the cup holders into the back of the van.I still have problems from my neck and back because of the stupid tailgaters. I keep a safe distance and I expect everyone else to do the same, but they don't. I wish they gave more tailgating tickets! Parents, when you teach your kids to drive, teach them not to tailgate! Oh, and that second guy was driving on a suspended drivers license.

P.S. This is certainly a strange question for the thumbs downers.

It happens to me all the time. What bugs me is they won't
just pass you, they just stay there, right on your tail.
What else is bothersome is when someone passes me,
just to slow down, or turn right.

Bless You.

I have a far larger problem with AARP being a wing of the democrat party than I do drivers who do the legal speed limit. However, I would ask all who do not wish to exceed the posted speed limit to please do it in the RIGHT lane and allow faster traffic to pass.

PS: I canceled my AARP when this left leaning organization announced that they had 33 million members who supported Bill Clinton for president!! (all they had were 33 million members so they included ME in their ludicrous statement).

yes, don't worry about it....my pleasure come from seeing rearending that could've been resolved by driving at a safe distance.

Yes this happens sometimes. If it's a two lane road I will pull over and let them pass. It's safer than them tailgating me.

why does it make you angry that someone may have gotten a frantic call from his daughter that some one was breaking the door down at home and you think he shouldn't be in a hurry. I see this all the time on answers my answere is just drive your own car and stop thinking you are the instructor on how everyone else should drive.
