I noticed that your other question, reasons for old people NOT to be on the roads, got deleted, and, I'm sure, for good reasons.
I would have answered that, a good reason for them NOT to be out there is because of all the young drivers, teenagers and young men under 25 years of age who are out there causing the most collisions and receiving the most tickes of any age demographic.
A person could get killed out there, by all those young, irresponsible maniacs. |

If someone that is 75 years of age can drive and can pass their driving test along with driving correctly by using the rules of the roads then they have every right to still have the freedom to be independent.
Facts have shown that people 65 years of age and up have less accidents then people ages 15 to 20 years of age and those are the ones that we need to worry about. |

i think once you hit a certin age you should be made to take your drivers test. my pap is 72 he drives a new 07 f150 and does great. he did own a 07 jeep grand cherokee with a hemi, yes a hemi and he would use it too. he and my dad are the only two people i know that have to be first(meaning in front of everyone). how many old people have you seen go flying past you with a trailer loaded with 6,000lbs at 85mph if you do see anyone like that its most likely my pap |

I would like to see a comparison for people over 65 compared to someone over 35 who have driven the same amount of miles. Your not going to tell me that people over 65 are safe compared to kids maybe, someone in there mid 30s there's no comparison. Old folks have no reaction time can't see and can barely move out of there cars. much less be able to turn there head and look at the pass side mirror.
I can still remember riding with my grandfather in the back seat of his buick as a little kid. He used to scare the crap out of me.
He had no buisness on the road whatsoever. He would pull out in front of cars left and right he couldn't see. |

There should be a test, every year. After the age 65.
One part of that test would be.....
Example....
Someone standing six feet away, throws a candy bar at the applicant, if they cannot catch it, (no more lic).
Quick response is necessary to be a safe driver. |
