Right of way in an intersection...left turn or right turn?

If I am turning left through an intersection and have a green light (not green arrow, just green light) and the person coming towards me is turning right and has a Yield sign, who has the right of way? Is it me since I need to clear the intersection first?

well the yield sign is for them ONLY if their light is red, otherwise you automaticallly yield to him

If you have a green light, the person approaching from the other direction should also have a green light, not a yield sign. Let's deal with that situation first. You only have the other driver's turn signal to tell you s/he is turning and that may be wrong, so stop until they actually complete their turn. If it is one of those intersections where there is an island separating the right turn lane from through traffic on both streets then it would have a yield sign and they would have to yield to you. However, you were stopped waiting for them to prove they were turning, so technically, they would have entered the intersecting area first and the yield bit might not apply. If the accident hasn't already happened, then let them complete their turn before you accelerate out of yours. If the accident has happened, I'm sure the officer has already given you his opinion on the subject. Talk to your lawyer.

I never seem a yield sign at an intersection like this. Normally, a car turning right with a green light would have the right of way over a car turning left. But if the right turn lane curves away from the intersection, they don't have the light anymore. So, therefore they should yield to you or anybody in their direction. Also, if the road you're turning on has 2 lanes in each direction, you're required at law (of course it depends on the laws in your state) to turn in the inner most lane, so therefore the left lane. And the car turning right is suppose to turn in the right lane and yield to anybody in that lane. So, if that's the case, you both can turn at the same time; you wouldn't be in each other's way.

You would have the right of way. The yield sign must be obeyed.

California Vehicle Code, 21801. (a) The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction which are close enough to constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement, and shall continue to yield the right-of-way to the approaching vehicles until the left turn or U-turn can be made with reasonable safety.
--------------------------------------...
The car approaching is to be yielded to until he has made, past tense, his right turn.
