Yes. Immediately.
It is best to call 911 and say a dangerous driver is still on the road, you are afraid for others safety.
I did that just once - a young woman was driving with one hand on the wheel while she turned over her shoulder to holler at a kid, who was packing groceries up over the back seat into the back area of her SUV. Not only no seatbelt, but kneeling up and leaning right over the seat back to arrange things. While she turned to direct him and hand things to him, swerving.
I got a call back from the police the next day, to inform me that the owner of the car was VERY grateful. Her daughter had been driving, with her grandson (and I assume, will not be borrowing the vehicle again). |

Stuff like this happens.
You can if you want, but the chances are not a whole lot will be done.
Well im from the UK, but i would assume its the same over there in the US. |

Yes. I called the cops on a girl who pretended to almost run in to me as a joke, thus causing me to swerve off the road almost, I saw them cracking up laughing after they did this. The cops probably won't do anything, but it will be good to have their reckless history on record in case the person causes any other bad accidents in the future. |

Shame you didn't get his plate number - then you could have left him a message at http://www.emailacar.com. I find it a great help dealing with road idiots. |

Interesting question. I'm not sure what the cops can legally do because it's so much after the fact at this point. I mean it's just your word against his. I doubt the cops are going to show up at his home a few days later and ticket him, if that's what you're asking. Next time call on your cell while he's still out there on the road. The sooner you call after the incident the more likely there will be consequences. |

yeah, and be sure to tell them you were going 85 because it was life or death that you ABSOLUTELY HAD TO PASS HIM |

ModelFlyerChick

You had to go 85 to pass this guy?? What in the blue blazes of hell were you thinking??? Was it really THAT necessary to pass him?
You know you could have avoided this entire incident if you had just pulled in behind him instead of trying to pass. As a general rule I don't pass vehicles that are traveling at or above the posted speed limit. What's the point of it? If you pass them you'll have to drive faster putting you at greater risk of an accident or getting ticketed. |

I would. It's people like that, that get others killed. |

Yes you should file a complaint, incase he does it again and actually hurts someone. It's a road violation. |

hahaha you obviously don't drive in southern michigan. that guy has a good temper compared to people here. i wouldn't do anything about it now, but if you see him again then yea call the cops. and if he starts to follow you, go to the nearest police station. |

You should definately tell it to a cop. Give the cop what the car looked like, the license plate # and any other sort of info you gathered about the car/driver. Also, you might need to tell them the place where you were driving. If they see a car that looks like that, in around the same place, they'll pull him over. Good luck! |

Yeah |

Yes, what he did is against the law and you don't know what his intentions were. Make the police file a report and give them the information about the car so that if something happens the report was made and protect yourself. |

I would definitely file a complaint. I'm pretty sure the complaint must be in writing, and if there were any witnesses i would make them an alleged conduct in your statement. Your complaint will be assigned an investigator, to be completely investigated including speaking to the witnesses you name, and interviewing anyone in the department who may have witnessed the alleged conduct. Good Luck! =] |

I think you ought to just leave it alone. Unless, you don't mind the nutcase possibly getting your address an such if you file an official complaint, At least that's how it works around here :( |

You can't help people like that. I'd ignore him. Hes probably a miserable person having a miserable life. He'll probably shoot someone some day, or cause an accident, for no reason other than spite.
Thats why you should always carry protection, and I don't mean that 3 year old condom in your wallet. |

I would report him, although there is not much the cops will do. They might just write down his plate number or something. |
|

YoungTurk904

If you went through all that to get the plate you should. He could have killed you when you wound your window down. |
|

Jennifer T
 |
If you felt like you were in real danger, I would say yes. They might be able to charge him with reckless driving- see if you can press charges.
Best of luck, and good job not rolling down your window! Who knows what might've happened.. |
|

The Man
|
i would roll down my windows and either flip him off or do a quick hit and run |

yes you should, go now run like the wind. i bet in the end you will find out this person is a cop and nothing will be done about it. |
