Roundabouts - signaling question?

When driving you come to a roundabout (not a mini roundabout) you want to take the exit directly across (third exit of five) how do you signal? Additional Details hi , just checked the highway code and it says you should not indicate right if you are going streight across - see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070338

After the second exit, flick the left indicator on, and pull in lane depending on which lane you was in already, and how big the roundabout is.
NEVER signal right - There is no need to.
It confuses other drivers, and in the past has caused fatal accidents. |

Signal left as you are passing the exit immediately before the one you want to take.
--edit--
You do not signal right at any stage as you are going directly across - in other words, straight ahead. |

You don't signal on the approach to the roundabout.
At the exit before the one you want you start to signal left. |

I would give my signal to go left as I pass the second exit. |

Always imagine a roundabout as being a clock.
You approach from the bottom where the '6' would be on a clockface.
If you are taking a road off the roundabout at position 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 on the clockface you should approach in the LEFT hand lane and indicate LEFT as you approach the exit you wish to take.
If you are taking any road off the roundabout past the 12 o'clock position - that is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 on the clockface - you should approach the roundabout in the RIGHT hand lane and be indicating RIGHT continually until you pass the exit before the one you want, at which point you signal LEFT to show you are leaving the roundabout.
These rules apply to both normal and mini roundabouts.
There is always a roadsign before a roundabout showing a plan of all the exits, you should use this to guage which lane you should be in.
Sometimes lanes are specially marked for certain directions, in these cases check you are in the correct lane for the direction you want. |

You might want to read that page again.
Further down it says "signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want". |

Plenty of good advice here - and some not so brilliant! I think one guy is in the US.
For straight ahead, no need to signal on approach, take the left lane and continue in the left lane throughout the roundabout (don't cut the corner!). As you pass the exit before the one you want to take CHECK YOUR INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LEFT MIRRORS and signal left. Leave in the left lane.
Good luck |

In general, approach a multilane roundabout the same way you would approach any other intersection.
If you want to turn left, use the left–most lane and signal that you intend to turn left.
If you want to turn right, use the right–most lane and signal that you intend to turn right. In all cases, pass counterclockwise around the central island.
When preparing to exit, turn on your right turn signal as you pass the exit before the one you want to use |
