Seatbelts for shorty's?

i am 5ft and my seatbelt literally will strangle the hell outta me if i get into an accident, i already lowered it manually as much as i could and raised my seat as high as possible. i refuse to sit on a pillow anymore!!!! please help

Just for the comfort factor, try a lamb's wool (or synthetic) seat belt "sleeve" that goes over the shoulder belt. It will help reduce or eliminate the shoulder belt rubbing on your neck. Sit at least 10" away from the steering wheel to avoid obstructing the air bag if it deploys (opens). Whatever you do, do not put the shoulder belt behind you! The seat belt is designed to hold you in the seat during a crash; without the shoulder belt, your upper body is going to go forward into the steering wheel and the deploying air bag (if it opens), and possibly the windshield. There is also the possibility of injury to your abdomen and internal organs from wearing a lap-belt only in a crash. Hope this will help you find an answer. |

I hear you. I am 4-10. Fortunately for me my seatbelts are separate, so I use just the lap belt part.Or I will put the shoulder part behind me.I don't know how illegal this is. I'm also sitting just inches from the air bag, so if I get into a collision I'm dead either way. I do use a cushion, but that just enables me to see over the steering wheel. I have to sit up close because I have a manual transmission and my foot has to reach the floor. I don't know what the answer is. Midget cars?? |

Sorry, i am actually in the same boat you are. 5'0". I don't people think about short people when they make things. Very frustrating. |

Look for a triangle shaped device sold near the car seats in the infant department at your favorite store. I am not making fun of you, that is just where you have to get it. You will install it near the buckle and it will lower the top strap 2-3 inches. I use one of these for my daughter, who is 4'10". I hope it helps. |

i dont have an answer,just sympathy.this has been a pet peeve of mine for years,i am 5.6',but the shoulder strap rides across my neck,ive often thought i would strangle if the car stopped short !i mean,how tall are the test dummies-6 feet?its crazy! the average woman is 5.4',so there are a lot of uncomfortable drivers out there!!!!!! ps-i tuck the shoulder strap under my "chest area",that keeps it off my neck ,unless i move around a lot.this doesnt work unless there is enough up there to hold the shoulder strap down. |
