Serious question! y do people not turn their brights off when they see a car approaching?

and am i wrong for blinding them back ?i dont like to do so, but i feel its only right ,and than it's not so bad on my eyes when i do ,i mean i've almost ran off the road because of this,as im sure plenty have if not gone completely off the road

Rude for sure !
HINT: When the approaching car's brights are on you, blinding you, do not look down the road. Instead, look at where the road meets the curb (curbline) on the right side about 100 feet or so, in front you. This will lessen the glare of the on coming car, and still you will be able to follow the road by looking at the right side Shoulder, or curbline. Don't even waste your time blinding them back, they are already stupid and would not know why you're doing it anyway, you're driving, you HAVE to be a better driver than them, just so you won't get killed ! be the professional !

This is mostly because they are ignorant or lazy or just that they have no respect for others. I throw the brites back on them too but keep one thing in mind. It is against the law to use high beams in the face of oncoming traffic. I know, then why don't they ticket the ones driving arround w/ them on all the time. That is aquestion I would like to know the answer to also. A little safety tip for you to use. When they come at you w/ brites, put your hand up to block the light. It will help you stay on the road. (I do this right after turning on my high beams)

Because the average person is pretty stupid, and so half the country has to be even dumber than that. So there ya go. They just don't have the common sense to not use their high beams.

And, to make it worse, you now have SUV's with FOUR headlights, most of them blazing, and even if the brights are not on, they still blind you because they are at a higher point on the vehicle. I think people are so distracted while driving anymore, that they are more and more often forgetting the niceties, such as proper turn signal use and the dimming of the brights on approaching traffic. Despite the ban on cell phone use in a moving car, most cars I see passing me by have drivers happily yapping away, willfully and delightedly breaking the law. Driving under the influence of cell phone is every bit as dangerous as driving drunk.

They probably forget they are on. If you just flash your brights at them real fast most people will turn them off.

When that happens to me, I will quickly flash them with my brights to see if they turn theirs off.

In some cases they will turn them off, in some cases I mistook thier low-beam headlights for their high beams because their regular lights were so bright and in some cases they just ingore it and drive on by.

Some of the reasons that they use their high beams are:
A) They forgot the high beams were on.
B) One or both of their low-beam headlights are dim or
C) One of their low-beam headlights is burned out.

If you have a problem being blinded by high-beams, look down at the lines in the right side of your car and that will help.

All the best to you!

princessami
well maybe they forgot that their headlights are on high beam. especially if you have been driving awhile and you havent seen a car in a decade, then all of a sudden here comes a car you have passed and then realized oh crap i had my high beams on. Not all people are arrogant, ignorant or rude.. mistakes do happen

YourDreamDoc
Well, some people don't want to hit deers in the late night. that's why they turn on beam.

However, some people have really bright light or you have really bright white light and they thought you turn on the beam, so they beam you to turn it off.
