No, there is nothing you could have done. You could have been in a bad accident had you swerved or slammed on your brakes, causing injury or loss of life to you or others.
I know how you feel, though.
I hit a raccoon on a dark road one night. I couldn't avoid him because there was a huge truck tailgating me and slamming on my brakes would have most certainly caused a big accident. It still stinks that it happened. |

Ok, I can see you feeling badly about it for a few minutes but not guilty. It wasn't your fault... |

Don't feel too bad. There was nothing you could do. Just be glad that you didn't panic and run off the road or hit another car. I don't claim to know how you feel, but I understand. I live in the country, and I have hit my share of birds, rabbits, etc. There really isn't much you can do to avoid things like that. |

It is ok to mourn the event and to take responsibilty for your role in the outcome. We drive cars, creatures will occasionally die.
If you need help overcoming your guilt you should extend yourself to help wildlife in some way. It is more useful and positive then asking other humans to tell you not to worry about it.
But really there is nothing you can do now. Don't worry about it. |

ur right that is sad.. but you should not feel guilty because that bird shuld not have flown into ur windshield and even though it was very sad, it was not your fault.
its not like you could have stopped...so just try to forget about it..whats done is done.. try to drive more careful though |

Ask yourself how you could have prevented this collision between you and the dove. Then snap out of it and get on with your life! Sorry if that sounds cold but come on |

Don't feel bad unless you are a vegetarian and don't eat meat. If you count how many chicken and beef sandwiches have you eaten in last month; you'll be surprise to know that it could fill your house several times were they there alive. |

i live i a very rural area where there is an over abundance of wildlife.snakes,possum,skunks,turtles,fo... deer. these are gods creatures but unfortunately, and daily, they meet their fate with an automobile. when i was young,on my way to see my girlfriend,i dodged a rabbit on a gravel road and wrecked my car. my girlfriend laughed uncontrollably.with the exception of a deer, you keep moving and never give an inch. especially in a 60 mile per hour, two lane highway, where dodging a turtle means head on collision, killing a human. don't worry about it. |

you will probably kill about 20 more by the time your too old to drive, so don't stress about it |

Get over it. I'd rather kill an animal that I hit than wreck my car. Ie look at the tv commercial with the idiot that swerves to miss a squirrel and wrecks his car. |

The only way you would be guilty is if you were exceeding the speed limit,If the dove was in your lane then the dove was guilty. So figure it out. |
