You should always go to court, rather than paying a traffic ticket. There is a chance the officer will not show up, and thew case will be dismissed. There is also a good chance that you can avoid points on your license, which in turn will keep your insurance rates from being raised.
Several hints:
Grooming and dress matters. Wear your best clothes. Suit and tie for men, classy dress for women. This shows respect for the court, and makes you look better to the judge. If you go to court dressed causally, you make a less positive impression.
Listen carefully to the Judge at the start of the session. Sometimes they have different alternatives for you. For example, one judge may allow you to pay a higher fine, but in return receive a probation before judgment ruling that will avoid the conviction on your record. |

you can usually go to court. the judge will ask you if you'd like to speak to the officer - they have to be there as the "accuser". DON'T argue with the officer - very dumb. They will almost ALWAYS reduce the points, fine for you. If it means losing your license or jeopardizing your insurance - tell them.
By the way, if the officer is a no show - your ticket gets thrown out. |

If u r innocent... absolutely. You may be the last in a long line of false accusations by a power trippin cop. If u don't stand up and go to court who knows where it will end. There are fixed incomes, abusive partners, etc. that could make life a lot harder than a ticket 4 some people. If u deserve it don't waste a honest cops time. |

sure, if you want to have my office get rich off you. Now seriously, if the ticket put you license in jeopardy then fight it. If you're a teen I would say yes fight it. Sometimes with an attorney intervention the ticket can sometimes be dropped if plea bargin are made to lessen the severity of the ticket. If it's a first offense ticket, pay the ticket get court supervision for a year and be done with it!!!!... if it's a DUI / DWI GET AN ATTORNEY!!! |

If you deserved the ticked why waste the officers time by bringing him to court to fight the ticket you are wasting my tax dollars that pay for the judge and the officer and everyone else that works at the court house so you cant try to fight a ticket that i am sure you deserved just drop it and pay the fine |
