Should a person under 17 go to jail for killing a passenger in an accident that was totally their own fault?

there was this 17year old here in ireland that got into an accident and killed 2 girls one which was 14 and the other 16 he had just obtained his licence he was driving with no experience and no experienced driver he was also driving a honda civic.

if he was speeding...give him 20 years in prison
if it WAS totally an accident,and he wasn't to blame AT ALL,then he shouldn't go to prison.....

Depends was he being negligent or not. Was he drunk, racing, showing off, etc, then yes I think he should be accountable for that. If on the other hand he made a turn and was hit by an other car then no that's a mistake.

what are the fine details though? did they prove that he was driving recklessly and that it was indeed his fault? or were there road conditions that should have been taken into account? were the roads slippery? how fast was he going? was there anything obstructing his vision that he couldnt control? things like that also need to be taken into account.

if they PROVED beyond any doubt that he was driving recklessly or drunk or something, yeah, he should have gone to jail.

but if there was anything at all he couldnt control, like all the sudden a cow or something walked onto the road and he had to swerve to avoid it or something, then it isnt entirely in his control, therefore not entirely his fault....and its going to be on his mind for the rest of his life so between whatever punishment he did get and the fact that he has to live with knowing he was partially responsible for killing two people, i think thats enough

It really depends on what happened to cause the crash, if he was speeding, drunk, on drugs etc.. he should be charged with 2 counts of causing death by dangerous driving,
If he wasn't speeding or on drugs and was just a freak accident caused by his inexperience then he shouldnt be charged with the deaths, but maybe made to resit his test

First, Inexperienced, 2nd, speeding, 3rd Wreck less ( That can be proved either by skid marks or witnesses, the accident will more or likely be a case of showing off as they do, I am not tarnishing you all with the same brush, but the youngsters have one thing on their mind SPEED if proved as will be, Jail, life time ban.

This is normal behaviour for a 17 year old boy who has just passed his test and got a car.
2 girls get in and he has to show off!
As the law permits this to happen and accidents are accidents and he has to live with it for the rest of his life.
Then the answer is no and if you wish to kill him then use a car to do it.

Yes they should because not only did this person mess up his or her life but look what they did to the other families that were destroyed..

Im not aware of the laws in ireland, Is their a law pertaining to vehicular manslaughter? We have that here in the states. Most likely here he would have went and yes i do think he should have!
