No! Why should you if your driving perfectly well?
Having to retake a test based on the number of accidents you were at fault for and their severity would be reasonable though! |

all women should but i would make it every 5 yrs, and any one over 65 should have some sort of yearly test |

This would probably do more to save lives than any number of speed cameras. It would ensure that drivers are aware of the road and also encourage drivers to avoid bad habits. It SHOULD be accompanied by the removal of speed cameras as staring At your speedo in a built up area is no substitute for proper observation and appropriate speed. Actually, it deters proper observation as you need to be looking out of a window to observe..
Problem is of course that speed camera are not about safety. |

Every 5 years drivers should have to sit a refresher test.Drivers in the country(most of)hardly know a fraction of what a road sign
means.Little wonder the descriptions they have.An article in
yesterdays or day before Daily Express, said. From a survey of young drivers the majority thought the test to easy.I also believe to get more idiots off the roads. That if your caught driving while banned, you start serving your ban from day one.Behind bars. The amount of banned driving while banned or without insurance is another example of the incompetence
of law and order in this country. |

I totally agree even tho I don't drive.
You get your licence from when you are 17 and you don't get nothing done then till you are 70.
There is endless posibilities of things that could happen to you within that time, that would affect your capability of driving. |

What would it prove? we can all drive well enough to pass the minimum requirement test - and then completely change within seconds of leaving the test centre. |

Your point is valid and I'm sure in the future the British government will make it mandatory for two reasons.
First it would make the roads safer, secondly its another way to skin the public ( Another way of taxing ). The police have to keep up their random checks due to the amount of drivers without tax, insurance and a licence.
Good luck with your lessons. |

Absolutely not!
As a driver I'm currently charged over the odds for petrol, speed cameras are cropping up all over the place despite a government report suggested that fewer than 5% of all traffic accidents are caused by excessive speed. The police are thinking of ever more ingenious ways to penalise motorists and to top it all off, pedestrians are becoming ever more careless.
Then where would you expect all this transport related revenue to go? Back into the transport system? You'd think so, but it certainly doesn't.
So, I'm damn sure that I don't want to be put in the position where driving would be more expensive than it already is. Especially as I rely on my car for work. |

YES, definately as 99% of the population think it's ok to drive in the middle lane of the motorway for hours on endfor instance! If EVERYBODY used it correctly, the fast lane would actually move the fastest instead of the slowest!! Work it out.. |

No doubt, yes they should. One of the things that has to be taken into account is the simple fact that the standard for driving test in GB has risen over the past few years - people who passed 10 years ago would not have passed at todays standard (although they may well have been capable).
Second to that people simply get into bad habits, and far far too many people just say - yeah, passed that, now throw the rule book out of the window.
Everyone should do a refresher every five years - it simply keeps standards up higher, and the thing with bad driving is that low standards means people going to the cemetery - it's no joke. |

After initially taking your test - we should all have to re-take say every 10 years. But when we reach a certain age - maybe 60? - then retests & eye-sight tests should be compulsory every 3 years. I'm not ageist BUT both the accidents I've been involved in were both caused by older drivers - and I mean 70's+. I drive for a living and the bad driving I see is terrible ...
I'm sorry but if you're older then your reflexes aren't the same as they used to be ...
