ok heres the tradgic story: every day after school i go to the elementary school across the field to pick up my sister and brother. but yesterday was way different than any other.i went to the school as usual and i went into the office. when i got in there some woman ran in and screamed "call 911! A BUS JUST CRASHED INTO A CAR AND THE CAR SPLIT IN HALF!" i run track so i run fast and i ran outside and right when i got out there the school bus crashed into a house's dining room! i ran to the scene of the crime and watched helplessly as 25 people climbed out of the bus. i was in a stage of shock until i saw my best friend's boyfriend. as soon as i saw that i knew my friends were on the bus and my heart stopped. i ran to the bus as fast as i could and started helping people out. after around 5 minutes everyone was out and around 13 ambulances arrived. they laid people in the grass on strectchers and i had to leave. i ran to my house which is 12 blocks away and i cried for around 1 hr. Additional Details to "linagranathe" my friends aremostly alright. out of 25 people 16 people went to the hospital and 20 were released. 5 are still in the hospital. they are pretty mchokay but the sight of that is unbarable. to "ask me" my mom and dad went to get them from the school.

If anyone that you truly cared about has seriously hurt, and it sounds like they may have been, yes you should feel traumatized for as long as it is necessary to rebuild your self esteem. Time heals all wounds, just don't go and start cutting yourself over this... |

yes that is a horrible think to see, but you will be able to move past it eventually, you should read the paper and see what caused the accident and how many people were injured, to see that it more then likely looked a lot worse then it was as in most, it will make you feel better |

Blame it on George Bush. Heck, everything else seems to be his fault these days if you believe the media. |

Uh, whether you should or not is the question. You obviously are. You need to talk to someone other than us on Yahoo! Answers. Maybe your family, the family of your friends, someone at the school. Good Luck and from the sound of it no one was killed so that's good. |

Yes but learn from this. You can get involved maybe fight your local government to put seatbelts on busses. Something to make sence of the tragedy. You are 100% human and you have emotions. |

It is quite normal to have a situation like that upset you. Some accident scenes even upset the professionals (Fire/ EMS/ Law enforcement) who are trained to deal with them. You are not used to dealing with it, and you have the added stress of knowing some, if not all, of the people injured.
It is going to take time to get over the shock and emotional trauma that you have experienced. You may want to talk to your parents, or a counselor, to try to help you get through the stress.
From what I can see of your story, you went and rendered what aid you could, and when the EMS crews got there, you then and only then, let it effect you emotionally. You did very well and should be proud of yourself. |

Its OK to be traumatized, especially after something like that. As long as everyone made it out OK, and no one was horribly injured, then you should get over it with time. Dnt get me wrong, it will be with you for a while and the sound of screeching tires will still kind of shock you, but with time, it will go away. |

First of all, you said you were in a stage of shock until you saw your bestfriend's boyfriend. So, since your stage of shock ended at that time, seems like your traumatized state would have ended at that time also. So no, you should not still be traumatized.
Also, your school must be worthless as your sentence structure, use of capitalization, etc is atrocious. Please let us know what school you go to so that others with children can avoid that school, and possibly the entire state (California?).
Sometimes bad things happen in real life. Life isn't fair. But you did the right thing to help. |
