Should parents permit teenagers to drive alone when they pass the driving test to get their license?

No. Someone of experience needs to be with them. I'm 16 and there has been so many car accidents within our school reguarding teens. In fact, two 17 year olds just died a month ago.

Yep. It takes some effort and maybe a little worrying, but they need to let their babies grow up and learn how to do things on their own.

UNLESS they thing their kid is a bad driver. Then, I'd say no.

Of course they should. If the law permits them to do so and by passing our driving test we are showing we have the the skills required, then there's no reason why not. I believe it is smart for a parent (in some cases) to restrict a newly qualified teenager's usage to local roads and not motorways and etc but not necessary. I was driving at 16 and I drove EVERYWHERE without a licence or insurance and now all my friends say I drive like an adult. Im used to high speeds, dangerous situations caused by myself and others and I have alot of experience of the social rules of the road, these are things you dont learn from an instructor. If my parents never let me drive I wouldnt have gained any of these skills.

Yes...
short distances at first... to the store, to school, running errands. At the same time, have them drive you on family outings for even more experience.

You will know the right time to let them go farther and farther.

NOT! Especially because you will say...... All those on Yahoo said they DO!

SO.... WHY CAN'T I DO IT TOO.......?

Thanks, RR

Yes. If the law thinks they are old enough to be responsible, why shouldn't they?
