No, Should people who interfere with others business be put in jail. I grew up with out seat belts and darn few kids were hurt because of no child safety restraints.
Who died and left you are anyone else in charge of my children. Answer is simply no one did so mind your own business. |

Sure, put them in jail so the rest of society can pay for their accommodation, food, entertainment, rehabilitation, etc., and their kids can be taken from a stable (even if arguably less than safe) home and put in the foster care system, where we again pay for all the stuff their parents were providing, and they can learn how to be anti-social from all the kids they encounter there who have anti-social behaviors entrenched. Here's a thought - spend a little time educating parents who don't use child restraints about why its a good thing, including having them listen to parents whose kids have been injured or killed because of failing to use seat belts. Lots cheaper - m besides, the intent should be to change behavior and get people into compliance, not to lock them up. |

If a traffic violation causes a person to be pulled over, or puts them in an accident, and it is found that the minors in the vehicle were not seat belted in, i would love a law that charged the driver with child endangerment.
My reasoning is that the driver if violating traffic law is unfit to drive in the first place, making it unsafe for others, now to have minors in the vehicle compounds it.
But to drive without seat belts on children, alone, with no violations involved, no i do not think there is an offense. |
