Yes and no.
Full-fledged industrial farming operations, yes, they should have to follow the same safety regulations as industrial because there's a lot more division of labor and people do specific jobs, the workers are employees and have no vested interest in the business.
Family-run small farms usually have the same guy working on the tractor that is driving it. If he doesn't do a lock-out/ tag out, it's no big deal because chances are he's told everyone else that could possibly be involved "hey, don't touch that!"
I DO think anyone who has an agricultural business should have to take a basic first aid class and a farm safety course. |
