Should the age of teens getting their license to drive be move up to 18?

Although youth certainly can play a part in the dangers that go along with inexperience and distraction... I, personally, feel that, if someone doesn't start driving until later (18, for example), those inexperience-risks among other things will still exist and the dangers not decreased (much).

I had to start driving before age 15 out of necessity to suppliment my household income. I had no respect for my first car, and the rules of the road. It took time for me to develop that, and I strongly believe it would have been exactly the same (only delayed) if I had started at 18.

However, I do believe that more rigorous training and education needs to be happening.

It really doesn't matter if you could only get your license if you were 21 or older. If you don't have common sense behind the wheel then don't drive.

personally i dont think that it should but i do see why people are pushing toward that. in a way it would be smarter because by the time you get your first experiences to drive you would be mature but the only thing about it that doesnt really work out is that the transportation here in the U.S doesnt always have the most convient transportation thats why i feel that it shouldnt be moved up i just think they should make more requirements like good grades, certain number of hours, and driving school

I think they should raise the driving age, I am not even old enough to drive but I can wait. I would probably be safer on the road with adults driving not a bunch of idiots.

I think it should be 18, for the sole reason that then the parents will not have to worry about being legally responsible for something their underage child does on the road with thousands of pounds of lethal mass traveling at high speeds.

yes it should if you look at places like germany that the driving age is 18 you will see that they have better public transportation, and in the 2 months i spent there i never saw an accident where as i have to find a different way home from work because some stupid kid was racing and got in a reck. I think people would value there licence more and not act as stupid when driving

i think they should cause of so many young teenage people having wrecks or causing them and also not knowing how to drive good

a temp' with a licensed driver over 21 is OK at 16. today's drivers didn't grow up on the farm driving machinery very young.

No depends on the state........I was raised in Idaho we were driving at the age of 10 by the time I got my licenese at 14 we were good drivers. That is a rural area....Now I live in California...students just getting their licenese at 18 are just plain scary, I'm not sure how they ever learned to drive on these roads.
Tell you one thing I'm a firm believer in is drivers Education....what idiot took it out of the schools and thought it isn't necessary should be shot. These poor kids that can't afford it learning to drive by the seat of their pants....Drivers Ed should be like math..........a prerequisite.

More important than the age of the driver is the preparedness of the driver. Driver education should be mandatory for all young drivers. The testing for obtaining a driver license should be stricter especially the driving part. In our county, if you can make it around the block making only right turns without freaking out the examiner, you get your license.

oh gosh no. I mean if you are the parent of those kids think thats 2 more years you have to drive them places. and it dosent matter if they are 16 or 60...it will still be ther first time driving.

I'd go even higher, up to say 21. It would save thousands of teen lives a year.....
