Should the government force automakers to come up with some kind of system to keep cars cool in the summer?

so that if someone forgets their baby they don't die? Something like a solar powered AC that works with the car off and keeps the car at around 72 degrees would save so many babies!

Anyone forgetful enough to leave their child or pet in a closed car in Summer, Fall, Spring or Winter shouldn't be driving. Thanks! Good luck! |

Think of how wasteful that would be! It's not automakers' fault that parents are too neglectful or stupid to remember their kids are in the car. That would be like forcing automakers to create cars that wouldn't speed or wouldn't ever touch another car. People need to take responsibility. |

No they shouldn't if someone can't remember to take their child or pet out of the car, then they don't deserve to be a parent or a pet owner. I hate to say it but the baby would still end up dead down the road since the parent is not responsible for their child. |

The car makers and Government are not your keeper. If you cannot remember to remove your child from your vehicle, you have a serious problem. |

If there was such a thing to keep cars cool in summer that would be an excuse for irresponsible people to leave their kids alone in the car instead of taking the child in with them. The government shouldn't have to force people to take care of their kids. |

Are you kidding me? Why are you blaming the automakers for someone else's fault? It is the parents fault for doing an idiotic thing like living a baby in the car in a hot day. |

I don't think the government should be so involved in doing the parenting for every child. Adding several hundred dollars to the cost of every car manufactured is an extreme measure to do what every PARENT should do for themselves.
Can you imagine how may parents will take advantage of such a system, to deliberately leave children unattended in a car, simply becase "the heat won't kill them?" |

The government cannot legislate intelligence into people. This would be another monumental waste of money and time. If the system malfunctioned there would be lawsuits from "sue happy" people that left their kids in the car because it was supposed to be "safe". Bad idea. People need to be responsible for their own actions and stop trying to blame others for their shortcomings |

So, you're saying that instead of finding ways to PREVENT idiot people from leaving their babies in a hot car we should let our all-powerful government force automakers to build something to 'cool' every car on the road when parked, passing the expense on to US, the consumer. Screw that! I have enough brains to not leave a child in a parked car, thank-you and I resent the thought of a bunch of hippie do-gooders always trying to find a way to get more government into my life! |

C'mon, do you know what that would cost each and every one of us? The technology doesn't exist at this time. unless you want to stack solar cells about 20 feet high on the cars! And then you would suggest government force automakers to put solar heat in the cars for the idiots that forget babies in the winter! And solar powered baby food dispensers and automatic diaper changers would be next! |
