There are some that shouldn't be driving over 70,but there are a damn sight more who shouldnt be driving under age 20. |

There was a very similar question asked just yesterday. I strongly oppose any initiative to remove a persons right to drive SOLELY based on their age. I concede that their are elderly drivers out there that perhaps should be retested, but there are also a disproportionate number of young people in the same boat. Bad drivers are off all ages and genders |

Like anything else, a simple age limit is not a good way of doing things. There are many 70+ people who are active and perfectly healty and drive very safely.
Every individual ages differently. To simply put a perscribed age on when someone should stop driving, would be like someone putting a perscribed age on when people should stop living.
The best way to handle safety on the road is to test individuals in a manner that can gauge their abilities and ensure they are safe. |

More accidents and casualties are caused by drivers under 21 So perhaps under 21's should not be allowed to drive |

I don't think there should be an upper age limit as such, but I do think every driver should go through refreasher training, just like any other form of training like first aid and health and saftety.
Just a thought! |

I don't think you can judge on age alone. Have a look at the insurance companys' statistics, they're the ones who know, they have to pay out.
Personally I wouldn't object to a retest every 10 years say, tho' how that'd ever be achieved I don't know! |

No. They should have to take a driver's test every year though. My grandfather is almost 74 and still a good driver. I've known people half his age to drive like they just got their learner's permit. |

No upper age limit, but people should be re-tested every so often. |

yes 27.
In the u.s.a. you are permitted to drive a car or moped with a weight < 17 Stones. |

no but i think it would be safer to have regular test say from 65 then 5 year intervals. my mother is 77 and basically shouldn't be driving. |

I dont think that there should be an upper limit but after 60 they should be tested every 5 years. With no cost to themselves |

Yes definitly i was driving uo a slip road coming off the motorway and some daft old woman was heading towards us i think at 65 or 70 you should resit your test. |

I think after every 40 years after having your license you should be given another test to see if you can still drive alright. People over 70 can go on the buses for free anyway for transport! |
