Should we raise the minimum driving age? Should we create a graduated license system? Require a H.S. Diploma?

Teenager driving accident deaths would be so easily avoided if teens did not drive. They are at an age where they truely believe they are in-destructable. And this causes to many problems. If we raise the driving age. Create a graduated driving license system that has drivers starting out with lighter and less powerful vehicles. And require a High School Diploma as a pre-requisite to getting a drivers license, so that we could be asured that the driver could actually read. Driving deaths and injuries would be reduced.

I would say either that or create a completely different passing criteria for teens taking driving tests (both written and road test). Make it tough to pass if you are under 18. Also high schools should not allow kids to drive to school. They should ride buses.

I don't think we should raise the driving age. I think we should just make sure teens are understanding the questions that are asked in the test. When I went to take my driving test, there were some kids in there who couldn't even read it, let alone understand it. The BMV people read it for them. And another issue, they just GIVE the illegal immigrants their licenses. That's not fair at all.

Definetly yes. Then there woyuld be more safe drivers b/c, we would actually put people out on the road that know how to drive!!

I like older drivers, and retesting people after a certain age (70's or 80's). However, requiring a HS diploma is akin to requiring it for voting -- it would unfairly discriminate against a large segment of society. Theoretically, people have to know how to read at least symbols in order to pass written (permit) test.

Also, having mandatory driver's classes required after a certain number of minor driving offenses would help.

YES X's 3! When I was 16 and got my license I had no idea what I was really doing. A car is, can be and has been used as a lethal weapon. Same for getting married at 17! How stupid was that and turned around and married again at 21 to someone I knew 8 days! Tattoo stupid on MY forehead!

YES, ALL laws need to be readjusted for the times that we now live in. The speed limits in some areas are also way to fast.

many teens ar mature enough its the people that let them do whatever they want that makes the child irresponwsable! its all in the upbringing. the driving limit is fine where it is i think

The minimum driving age should probably be 18 because many teens are NOT mature enough at 16 years old.
In ONTARIO we already HAVE a graduated licensing system and recently there has become a requirement to be attending school or graduated from--- to be able to get your driving licence if you are a teenager, i.e. if you 'drop out' you cannot GET a license, not even a learner's permit.

GOOD move on any jurisdiction that does this. Illiterate, irresponsible, immature people that cannot even read SIGNS should NOT be in control of other people's lives, --which drivers MUST take responsibility for.
