what do you do to relieve pain if you slam your finger (thumb) in a car door?
it is a bit swollen on the top part.

Did this the other day, all I did was nothing really special just kept it elevated to stop the pain with some ice and asprin. |

soak your finger in cold water for about 2-3 minutes the ice your finger until its numb so you can`t feel the pain then got to sleep with it numb and by the time you wake up you shouldn't even remember the pain you felt when you hurt you finger in the first place |

OK, here's the real answer. I pinched my thumb with a 45lb weight.
I got a very, very small drill bit and used my other hand to turn the bit between my thumb and forefinger to drill thru my thumbnail. When it finally got thru, the blood flowed out and the pressure was completely gone.
Someone told me that I could do it with a flattened out staple, but my nails were too hard and thick for that.
You could do the ice thing, and take an NSAID like Motrin or Naprosyn. |

first off, I'm sorry to hear about your injury. the ice trick is usually the best thing. if blood developes, then the drill to relieve pressure. Maybe cover thumb with chocolate syrup and put it in your mouth. Get well soon! |

I DID THIS today and it was VERY VERY VERY painfu i put it in ice water and went to sleep while it was very numb and woke up with no pain at all |
