A cop can pull you over but probably won't unless he's having a bad day, bored or a little menstrual.

Your stopping distance increase by over 20% for each 5mph increase in speed, so doing more than the limit increases your chance of a smash in an emergency, instead of being able to stop in time.

You Americans should think yourselves lucky you don't have speed cameras everywhere, (YET) that book you for just 3mph over the limit, however you soon will be getting them as they are a good revenue raiser and the governments love getting money from speeders, they help to balance the state budget.

SPEEDING KILLS How dumb can you be. If your dumb enough to speed then you will be dumb enough to kill some one because you can't obey the law. What other laws have you broken. Keep it up & you will end up in jail. Surely your not that dumb your just young & have lots to learn please learn it sooner rather than later. Just because every one else is speeding means they will be pulled over not you.Cops will pull you over if they have nothing better to do. I was proof of that. I was pulled over for talking on my mobile phone while driving problem was my phone was in my bra & I was pulling long hair out of my mouth. The cops drove past going the other way & turned around & chased me to pull me over. They went thru my phone then took my number to go thru the phone company records.

Will a cop pull you over? Not likely, especially if you are going with the flow of traffic.
Is it LEGAL? Technically no. The speed limit is the MAX speed limit by law, and cops CAN pull you over for going even 1 mph over as it shows on their radar.

Usually the only time cops would pull someone over for doing 60 in a 55 is if it was actually a speed trap area, or perhaps if you have out of State plates(depending on the region some cops go after Out of State Drivers).

Cops wont bother you at 5mph over.......they wont even waste their time.

You can usually get away with doing 10 over no problem.....although its a standard practice for cops to write tickets AFTER you've gone past 9mph over........so stay within that range.

There are no guarantees though, i know people that have gotten ticket for 1mph and 3mph over!
(but i DOUBT that will happen unless your in some hick town with bored cops.........most judges would literally laugh and throw out speeding ticket of 1-5mph over.)

It really depends WHAT road you are on.

Ive been on plenty of highways were you can easily get away with 75-80 in a 55 zone.

I flew 80mph right past a cop radaring in a 55 zone......he never chased me, and it happened again the next day.

Cops sitting on busy highways are usually waiting for a "head-ups" call on possible drug-traffickers or looking for people doing 90mph or more.
