So this school bus drives by-- am I going to get a ticket?

So this school bus driver is about to stop, and when he finally breaks, the little red stop sign comes out right?

Well, this morning I was in a daze and I did not notice the sign comming out. I drove right past. Then the bus driver HONKED at me and he paused for a long time so I think he recorded my liscence. Am I going to get a ticket? is that legal?

For all those "would you mow a kid over too" complaints, the guy pulled his sign out around the minute I was supposed to go. (it was around a previous stopsign) so it could be argued on whether or not that I did something legal or illegal.

It is possible that the driver will report you to the police and have them give you a ticket. It really depends on whether he has have a lot of this happening. Yes, it is legal, remember--there are children involved.

it is your word against theirs as for as stopping before or after the red sign. simply say that you could not perform a proper stop and that cautiously moving forward was the best avenue to avoid an accident.

For all the children who ride the school bus 190 days every year, LETS HOPE YOU GET A TICKET, Sure things happen and people make mistakes but you should be paying more attention to your driving, especially at that time of the day when kids are out close to the street. If you get a ticket at least it's just a ticket and you didn't run over someones child instead! Think about that

You can get a ticket and yes the Drivers do record the license number of the offending car.

theres no way he can get your license that fast, especially if he was honking. hed only have one free hand AND he wouldnt have a piece of paper ready to write you down. they will cry about it but you will be fine

yeah cops take that seriously no matter where ur from, u really have to pay attention and if he did get your plate number itd be hard to do anything unless he had it recorded,you just have to be more alert but we all make mistakes like that.

In our area we do turn in license plates for drivers who violate loading lights. If the driver cannot get the information there are usually 50 students are more than willing to help the driver obtain the information. We e-mail the information to our local police department and they will write letters and issue tickets. Our drivers do honk to try and get the passing motorists attention to stop. That is a busdrivers worst fear is that one of their students will get run over.

do the crime pay the fine. next time you might stop. do you stop for kids crossing the road? or mow through them too.....
