dwe were driving on m4 coming to a speed camera and some idiot drove fast past us, today we received a speed prosecution, could this be theres, as i remember they drove quite fast past us when we were near a speed camera??

sorry i dont know how to reply as im new.lol ive just realised that dont make sense what i typed as it looks as when i was clicking over with mouse it changed sentance

Speed cameras aren't infallible so it's possible the citation should have gone to the other car. It's also possible that you were also speeding and both of you got cited. I'm unfamiliar with British motorway regulations but I imagine you can ask to see the photo and can ask if the other car got one as well. If he was also cited it would probably improve your chances of proving it was the other car. |

Well it was in the news the other day about a woman who parked near a speed camera and received a ticket. Presumably a passing car triggered the camera and it took a pic of her stationary car. So I would say yes it is possible that the camera was triggered by the car passing you. Contest it and cite the case of the parked car. |

A speed camera takes two photo's of speeding cars and the speed of the car can be determined by the distance traveled between the two photo's it is possible that you were sent the penalty notice incorrectly. Challenge their evidence it will then be rechecked manually if you are correct the ticket will be canceled.
By the way having children in the car does not prevent you speeding. A driver passed me today with three children in the back of his car all without seat belts or any restraints and he was traveling in excess of 90 mph some people are just stupid as regards the safety of their family

No, as speed cameras work the number-plate of your vehicle. Also, the speed camera normally only focuses on a single lane, so he wouldn't have been caught. |
