Speed camera flashed when doing under the speed limit?

Yesterday I passed a speed camera in a 30 zone doing 28 (according to my golf's speedo) in the dark however I saw the camera flash once. There were no other cars around at the time. I saw the flash in my rear view mirror so I assume it's a gatso... why did it flash and what's the chances i'm for a fpn?

Unless it flashed twice I wouldn't worry - the cameras take two photos to judge your speed based on the travel between the markings on the road.

Chances are somebody triggered it by driving towards the camera at a +30 mph speed.

Your speedo must be under-reading. 10% tolerance is allowed, drive a little UNDER the indicated limit & get it checked.

Your speedo could be out. Wait and see if they write to you - you are allowed 10% grace, therefore if you were actually doing 33mph or less, you shouldn't get a fine.

I think you need to get flashed twice, was there any other car in front going fast? wait and see if you do get a ticket then if you do complain in writing asap

doubt it....speed camers have to flash twice .they do this so they can measure the distance....you sure it wasnt lightening?

Wait and see what happens, this has occurred a couple of times in the past and I have worried about it but nothing has actually happened, no enveloes on the doormat bearing fines.........

Who knows? Could it have been a reflection in your mirror off some lights somewhere that you thought was a flash but wasn't?

Otherwise, if t was an actual flash it usually takes a max of 2 weeks to get the letter in the post which would tell you when and where and your speed limit at the time.

I doubt you would be able to do a thing to prove that you weren't speeding if you were fined as you can't prove it, you can contest it and hope for the best but thats all you would be doing.

There was a case on the news a while ago where a fiat punto got fined for doing 102mph on the motorway. The driver contested it by taking his car to a race track, the max speed it could do at full pelt was about 90 mph and hence it wasn't physically possible for it to be doing the speed it was fined for and he got off!

aguamoos... of course speed cameras work in the dark!
cameras need to flash twice to get the two pictures they need to compare to each other to see how fast you were going, ive had it happen to me and i didnt get anything in the post.

and you have to be doing at least 5mph over the limit to get a fine anyway!

if it only flashed once and you wernt speeding then your ok

Dont think they work in the dark.
