tpopy has not learnt about average speed cameras

Stick to thirty, stick to forty, boot f**k out of seventy on motorways.
Why? Because thirty limits are there for a reason. Motorway limits were put in place when hardly any cars were capable of going that fast, and they are no longer relevant in the modern world. I rode from Portsmouth up to Scotland, and if I was going slower than ninety on a road with free flowing traffic I would have been slowing everyone else down. NO ONE on a motorway sticks to seventy, and traffic cops basically ignore anyone driving sensibly but doing it at about eighty. Because if they pulled everyone they saw doing eighty, they couldn't do anything else because thousands of people would be clogging up the fines system.
Since hitting anything at seventy is pretty much going to result in me either being lucky and sliding along the road (good result) or hitting something large, hard and driven by a moron ending in squiggy death, I figure that hitting crashing at eighty, ninety or a hundred is academic.

And don't bother, anyone, trying to tell me that my actions endanger other road users. How many times have you seen a biker walk away from a high speed crash with a car? And how many times does the car driver walk away?

My neck, my bike, my choice.
I rest my case, your honour.

Oh, and no points on my licence, either.

The roads I use are always to busy to speed on.

There are so many speed cameras around now that you can loose your licence in a day for only a series of minor offences.

There are places where they actually aid traffic flow (motorway roadworks) and reduce accidents, but mostly they are there as an extra tax.

I don't bother about the road conditions anymore, I just look for cameras and slow down accordingly.

keni
yes. the 30/40/50 limits are on that road for a good reason. The average driver does not know if there is a junior school, ambulance station or old folks home just around the corner.

A department with over 100 years of experience, the professional road planners have decided what the maximum speed should be for a stretch of road. We amateurs turn up after driving for a couple of years and think we know better.

If you are in a hurry, leave home ten minutes earlier.

wotaclot
trust me they will win fine and ban you if you get caught.
so don't do it .............find a private road or the isle of man to
let it rip...............................

l do sometimes speed, but l do try most of time to stick to correct speed or road conditions, l hate it when people speed then hit the brakes for a speed camera.

I tend to keep within 5 miles (above) of the speed limit. But that is definitely dependent on road conditions. In 30 mph limits, I watch carefully for speed cameras, as law enforcement at that limit seems more unforgiving!

tpopy
haha terri your a legend.

i tend to drive to the surroundings. if its a clear day and no traffic, i tend to go faster, and i slow b4 i get to speed cameras. i forgot to do this once and got flashed! nightmare!

I always drive according to traffic flow whether the limit is 25 or 65, and don't really care if there's a police car next to me. I don't know how a camera can prove who the driver of any vehicle is by taking a picture of the vehicle. Last I checked, the owner of a car is not liable for someone else breaking a traffic rule while using their car so where's the proof?
